    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a biaxially oriented laminated polyester film having good electromagnetic conversion characteristics by uniformly forming projections hard to shave on the surface of the outermost layer by adding inorg. particles with a predetermined particle size to the outermost layer in a predetermined amount. CONSTITUTION:In a biaxially oriented polyester film having a laminated structure consisting of at least three layers, inorg. particles are added to the outermost layer on at least the single surface of the film so that the concn. ratio of the surface layer particles in the outermost layer is 0.01 or more and the content of the particles is 0.01-2.0wt.%. In this case, the average primary particle size (d) of the particles is 1-300(mm) and the relation of the particle size with the thickness t(mm) of the outermost layer is set to d OMEGA/(square) or less. By this constitution, desired projection height becomes easy to obtain and the projection height is uniformized and high speed shaving properties are enhanced and good electromagnetic conversion characteristics are obtained when the film is used as a magnetic medium.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enhance the high-speed cutting properties of a film suitable for the base material of a video tape and the electromagnetic conversion characteristics in high-speed magnetic field transfer by adding internal precipitation type particles to the outermost layer part of at least the single surface of a biaxially oriented laminated polyester film in a predetermined ratio. CONSTITUTION:In a biaxially oriented laminated polyester film having a laminated structure of at least three or more layers, an internal precipitation type particle having a good affinity for a base material and capable of forming a surface projection while achieving the strong bond with the base material is added to the outermost layer part of at least the single surface thereof. The content of the internal precipitation type particle in the outermost layer part is made larger than that in an intermediate layer part and a recycle polymer is added to the intermediate layer. The surface roughness parameter P10 of the outermost layer part is set to 350nm. The formation of the internal precipitation type particle is performed by adding a calcium compound in a process performing polycondensation through the direct esterification of predetermined dicarboxylic acid and ethylene glycol.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a biaxially stretched polyester film satisfying the compatibility of the damage of a magnetic surface and the frictional characteristic with a resin guide pin by setting the sphericity, mean particle size, content and thickness orientation index of calcium carbonate particles in a film to specific ranges. CONSTITUTION:A biaxially oriented polyester film contains 0.002-10.0wt.% of spherical calcium carbonate particles having sphericity in the film of 1.5 or less, a mean particle size of 0.010-5.00mum and a thickness orientation index of 1.20 or less. When the sphericity is larger than the above-mentioned range, the frictional characteristic with a resin guide pin becomes inferior and, when the mean particle size is smaller than the above-mentioned range, the frictional characteristic with the resin guide pin becomes inferior and, when the mean particle size is larger than said range, a magnetic surface becomes inferior. When the content is larger than the above-mentioned range, the frictional characteristic with the resin guide pin becomes inferior and, when the content is larger than said range, the magnetic surface becomes inferior. Further, when the thickness orientation index exceeds 1.20, no effect is obtained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an excellent anti-scratching property and frictional characteristic by laminating thermoplastic resin containing particles at least on one surface, and permitting the relation between the particle size and the lamination thickness, and the radius of curvature in projection tips to be in a specific range. CONSTITUTION:The film is formed such that thermoplastic resin A containing particles is laminated at least on one surface, and they are biaxially oriented thereafter. In this case, the particle size is required to be in the range of 0.1-10 times of the laminate thickness in the average particle diameter in the film. And, when the average projection height of the film laminate surface is made in the range of 10-1,000 nm, it is preferable, since the anti-scratching property and frictional characteristic become good. Furthermore, regarding the surface projections being 10 nm or higher in the height of the film laminate surface, it is required that the number of the projections being ten times or more of the average particle diameter of the particles containing the radius of curvature betain the projection tips is 15% or less in the whole number of the surface projections being 10 nm in height.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title film improved in the prevention of dusting during slitting and abrasion resistance by adding inert organic polymer particles of a specified particles shape and a specified particle diameter to a biaxially oriented polyester film. CONSTITUTION:The title biaxially oriented polyester film contains 0.01-3wt.% inorganic polymer particles of a sphericity (major diameter/minor diameter) of 1.2-3.0 and a mean particle diameter of 0.1-3mum. As the inert organic polymer particles suitable to have a sphericity of 1.2-3.0, crosslinked polymer particles, especially, crosslinked spherical styrene/divinylbenzene copolymer particles are desirable. It is particularly effective in imparting better clutch resistance to the film that the heat resistance temperature of the inert organic polymer particles is at least 380 deg.C, desirably, at least 390 deg.C. Further, it is effective in improving the prevention of dusting that the crystallization acceleration coefficient of the inert organic polymer particles lies in the range of -10-+10 deg.C.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title polyester film improved in chipping resistance and running performance, by incorporating an oxide of a sixth period element of a specified means particle diameter and specifying the standard deviation of the heights of the surface protrusions in a specified range. CONSTITUTION:This biaxially oriented polyester film contains an oxide of an element of the sixth period of the periodic table, wherein the mean particle diameter of said oxide in the film is 0.1-2.5, desirably, 0.15-2.0, more desirably, 0.15-1.5mum, and the standard deviation of the distribution of the surface protrusions on at least either surface is in the range of 30-500, desirably, 40-300, more desirably, 50-250nm. As said oxide, an oxide of a lanthanoil element is desirable, and cerium oxide is particularly desirable. It is particularly desirable that the content of said oxide is 0.1-1.5wt.%, the coefficient of promoting crystallization of particles is 5-30 deg.C, and the density of said oxide is particularly desirably 4.0-8.5g/cm .

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enhance scratch resistance and end surface strength, by a method wherein a polyester composition containing colloidal silica and polyester not containing inorg. particles are respectively set to crystallizing characteristics to be laminated in a specific thickness ratio and the height and interval of the projections on the surface of the polyester composition containing colloidal silica are set to specific ranges. CONSTITUTION:A biaxially oriented polyester film is formed by laminating a composition layer (B-layer) wherein spherical silica caused by colloidal silica is contained in polyester to a polyester layer (A-layer) substantially containing no inorg particles. In this film, the thickness ratio of the A-layer and the B-layer is 0.04-1.4, the difference of a crystallizing parameter DELTATcg between polyester and the composition is 1-45 deg.C, the average projection height on the surface of the composition layer (B-layer) is 20-150nm and the average projection interval on the surface of said layer is 20mum or less. The polyester in both of the polyester layer and the composition contains a principal constitutional component composed of a structural unit selected from an ethylene terephthalate unit, an ethylene alpha, beta-bis (2-chlorophenoxy) ethane-4, 4'-dicarboxylate unit and an ethylene 2, 6-naphthalate unit.

CONSTITUTION:A biaxially oriented polyester film based on a polyester and carbon black particles, wherein the mean particle diameter of these carbon particles is in the range of 0.1-1.0mu the standard deviation of their particle distribution is 0.5 or below, the single particle index of film is 0.5 or above, and the Rp to Ra ratio (wherein Rp is the depth of the center line, and Ra is the average surface roughness on the center line) of film is in the range of 4-18. A film excellent in chipping and scratch resistance and durable even when the speed-up of a printing process, a step of application and calendering of a magnetic recording medium and an increase in dubbing or winding speed are performed can be obtained, and it can be adapted also for further increasing the output of a magnetic recording medium for further upgrading of pictures.

CONSTITUTION:The objective film made up of thermoplastic resin and inert inorganic particles (with an average size 0.1-2.0mum and content pref. 0.003-1.0wt.%)), having such a structure that the crystallization parameter DELTATcg of the thermoplastic resin layer 10nm thick around said particles is higher than that of the other thermoplastic resin >=1,000nm distant from any particles mentioned above by >=3 deg.C (pref. >=10 deg.C). This film can be obtained by the following process: master pellets prepared by incorporating a thermoplastic resin with high concentration of inorganic particles are diluted with a second resin with the DELTATch lower than that of said resin by >=3 deg.C to regulate the content of the particles followed by film formation of the resulting pellets.
