Abstract:
A pre-form and a method of preparing pre-forms are provided, The pre-forms comprise a resin and at least two layers of oriented fibre tows. The pre-forms comprise fibre tows instead of the traditional prepregs to enhance rearranging of resin and/or fibres during subsequent processing as well as provide greater freedom, a price reduction and/or a reduction of waste. The pre-forms may be formed three-dimensionally to enhance coupling to further pre-forms or other structures and/or to enhance shaping of the pre-form to a final three-dimensional shape. The method of preparation of pre-forms involves providing an adhesive between layers of fibres and providing a resin in contact with at least one of the layers of fibres. The resin Is preferably provided in a non-continuous layer to allow for removal of gas at least partially in a direction orthogonal to the layers of resin. The pre-forms are suitable for preparation of composite structures like for example spars for wind turbine blades.
Abstract:
A wind turbine blade comprising at least two wind turbine blade sections connected in a blade connection joint, where each blade section at their connection end comprises a number of corresponding dentations arranged to interconnect across the blade connection joint. One of the blade sections comprises a spar cap structure and a connecting part with a first end joined to the spar cap structure and an opposite second end positioned at the blade section connection end and comprising a number of the dentations. The connecting part further comprises a number of sheets which are interleaved with the fibre-reinforced layers of the spar cap structure in an overlapping zone thereby joining the spar cap structure and the connecting part. The invention further relates to a method for preparing a wind turbine blade section as mentioned above. The invention also relates to a method of preparing a sheet for a connecting part with a number of dentations at one end, which method involves cutting and rolling a number of unidirectional prepreg sheets to form fingers, placing in an open mould the fingers next to each other and partially apart such as to form the dentations, closing the mould, and fully or partially curing the sheet.
Abstract:
A wind turbine blade 2 is formed with structures allowing its lifting by a lifting apparatus 4, the blade comprising upper and lower blade shells and an internal load-bearing structure comprising an internal spar 16 or internal webs, a plurality of lifting points 20 arranged about the blade center of gravity, comprising openings for receiving lifting members 24 of a lifting apparatus insertable therein into structures 22 secured to the load-bearing structure, and with a locking connection being established between the lifting members 24 and the load-bearing structure 16.
Abstract:
A method of transporting a blade for a wind turbine generator, includes attaching a blade root support frame to a root flange of the blade and attaching a blade spanwise support frame to a spanwise portion of the blade, connecting a first wheel base to the spanwise support frame, and connecting a transport unit to the root support frame. In another aspect, the blades may be stacked by use of the support frames without use of further equipment.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for curing of a composite material. The method involves applying heat to only a first region of said composite material, such that said first region is heated to a temperature above the cure onset temperature of said curable resin, thus initiating curing of said curable resin in said first region; and maintaining the composite material in an insulated state, such that the curing of said curable resin spreads to regions of the composite material outside of said first region.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a wind turbine (1) comprising at least two blade units (31). Each blade unit (31) comprises a pitch controlled wind turbine blade (5) and at least one pitch bearing (9) including at least one outer ring (24), at least one center ring (25) and at least one inner ring (26). The wind turbine (1) further include a hub (7) comprising a mount area (6) for each of the blade units (31). This wind turbine (1) is characterized in that the mount area (6) comprise at least two concentric load tranferring surfaces (10, 11) for attaching the blade unit (31), via the at least one pitch bearing (9). The invention further relates a hub and a use hereof.
Abstract:
A wind turbine including a drive train. The drive train includes at least a rotor for transforming wind into rotation of a rotor hub, to provide a drive torque, a generator for transforming at least a part of the drive torque into electrical power, and at least one coupling for connecting a first drive train component to a second drive train component for transferring the drive torque between the components. The coupling includes a first coupling part with a first coupling area, the first coupling area being connected with a second coupling area of a second coupling part, whereby the drive torque is transferred from one of the areas to the other of the areas during operation of the coupling.
