Abstract:
A composition comprising a major proportion of an oil obtained from methyl esters of animal or vegetable material or both or derivatives thereof, or its mixtures with petroleum-based oils, in admixture with an ethylene-vinyl ester copolymer cold flow additive having at least 17 mole % vinyl ester units and containing 5 or more alkyl branches per 100 backbone methylenes. The copolymer improves the low temperature properties of the oil.
Abstract:
The invention relates to additives for middle distillates with a maximum sulfur content of 0.05 percent by weight, containing at least one fatty acid ester of alkoxylated polyols with at least 3 OH groups (A) and at least one alkylphenol-aldehyde resin (C).
Abstract:
The invention relates to the use of resins, obtained by a reaction of cardanol with a compound of formula (1), where R1nullH, COH, COOH, COOR2 or R2, R2nullC1-C30 alkyl, C2-C30 alkenyl, C6-C18 aryl or C7-C30 alkaryl with a number average molecular weight of 250 to 100,000 units, in amounts of 0.5 to 10,000 ppm relative to the oil, for the dispersion of asphalts in crude oils or products derived therefrom.
Abstract:
Jet fuel compositions having good low temperature operability. The jet fuel compositions comprise a jet fuel and at least one of the following additives: (i) a copolymer of ethylene and at least one unsaturated ester selected from: vinyl esters having at least 5 carbon atoms, alkyl (meth)acrylates, di-alkyl fumarates and di-alkyl maleates; (ii) a copolymer of ethylene and alkene; (iii) a copolymer of ethylene and less than 15 mole percent of vinyl acetate; (iv) a nucleator; (v) a wax; (vi) a substantially branched alkyl phenol formaldehyde condensate; (vii) a comb polymer; and (viii) a polar nitrogen compound.
Abstract:
The present invention provides oily liquids comprising A) at least one ester of fatty acids whose carbon chain lengths are between 8 and 30 carbon atoms, and a monohydric C1-C5-alcohol, at least 50% of the fatty acid radicals containing at least one double bond, and B) at least one alkylphenol-aldehyde resin, obtainable by condensing (i) at least one alkylphenol having at least one C6-C24-alkyl or C6-C24-alkenyl radical and (ii) at least one aldehyde or ketone nullto a degree of condensation of between 2 and 50 alkylphenol units.
Abstract:
The invention relates to low-temperature-stabilized additives for fuel oils having a sulfur content of up 0.05% by weight, comprising fatty acid mixtures of A1) from 1 to 99% by weight of at least one saturated mono- or dicarboxylic acid having from 6 to 50 carbon atoms, A2) from 1 to 99% by weight of at least one unsaturated mono- or dicarboxylic acid having from 6 to 50 carbon atoms, and B) at least one polar nitrogen-containing compound which is effective as paraffin dispersant in middle distillates, in an amount of from 0.01 to 90% by weight, based on the total weight of A1), A2) and B), and to the use of said mixtures for improving the lubrication properties of low-sulfur middle distillates.
Abstract:
The invention disclosed herein relates to linear compounds in the form of oligomers or polymers containing unsubstituted or substituted phenol units and unsubstituted or substituted salicylic acid units. These compounds are useful as additives for lubricants and fuels. Metal salts of these compounds are useful as lubricant additives. The process for making these compounds involves reacting phenol units and salicylic acid units in an organic solvent.
Abstract:
Petroleum additive formulations include a petroleum additive dissolved in a carrier fluid including at least one compound of the formula (I): (R2)pnullPhnull(CH2)mnullCOOnull(AO)nnullR1 where; R1 is C1 to C10 alkyl; AO is alkyleneoxy; n is 0 or from 1 to 100; m is 0, 1 or 2; and Ph is a phenyl group, which may be substituted with groups (R2)p; where each R2 is independently C1 to C4 alkyl or alkoxy; and p is 0, 1 or 2. Further, crude petroleum or petroleum refinery streams can be treated by adding a petroleum additive dissolved in a carrier fluid of the formula (I) to the product stream. Desirably the carrier fluid is or includes iso-propyl benzoate and/or 2-ethyl hexyl benzoate.
