Abstract:
Disclosed is a unified messaging system and method for combining a voice-mail system with an e-mail system. The present invention is a hybrid event driven system that polls a universal e-mail box for receipts, with the voice-mail system being fully event driven. The present invention maintains two persistent log-ins to the universal email box, one to deliver messages and one to read message receipts. Thus, the system and method does not need to log-in and -out or read the entire list of messages. The present invention uses a file system instead of a state database. The system and method acts in real time such that messages in the unified messaging systems are synchronized within a pre-determined real-time. The system and method uses a “fail-safing” technique in which, after copies of messages are made and stored by each messaging component, allows one system to work if another is down.
Abstract:
A system (110) for synchronizing multiple modalities is described. A user may use multiple modalities, such as voice and browser, to interact with data on a network, such as the World Wide Web. All of the modalities may be synchronized so that all are updated when the user enters information in just one. A method of communicating between devices (160, 185) includes receiving a request for first-modality data that includes first content, and sending a message in response to receiving the request, the message including information allowing the request of second-modality data that includes second content overlapping the first content. Another method includes requesting first data for a first modality, the first data including first content, and automatically requesting second data for a second modality, wherein the second data includes second content that overlaps the first content.
Abstract:
The claimed methods of collection, processing and distribution of information transferred over telephone channels comprise a system of n incoming telephone lines, mainly multi-channel lines, m outgoing telephone lines, L experts' workplaces, where n>0 and m>0, L>0, are any values, the controlling computer device. The methods comprise the following steps. Each line is preliminary associated with a set of experts' workplaces. On receiving the incoming telephone call a logical connection of the experts' workplaces is established, and a communication session is built therebetween. A notification or a message containing the record of the incoming call content is send to the experts - participants of the session. A device implementing the claimed methods is also claimed herein.
Abstract:
A system and method for asynchronous conversation routing and tracing that allows a client and agent to connect and reconnect to one another over a discontinuous engagement. The system and method facilitate this by allowing multiple methods of communication between the client and agent, including live communications and out-of-band communications. All communications between a client and agent are tied to a client case accessible by the agent, and the client case can include context and environmental data to further assist the agent or to route a customer service call to an appropriate agent. At any time, the client or agent can send out-of-band messages to one another to advance the customer service process, or the client or agent can seek to re-establish live communication with each other. This provides the client with a consistent point of contact not easily supportable with phone based call centers where support is single-threaded.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The present invention relates generally to telecommunications, and more specifically, to a system and method of managing telecommunication connections. In telephony, the set up, maintenance and tear down of communications is implemented in a very inflexible and predetermined manner which impedes the addition of new features. The Internet is generally used as a simple transport network that is insensitive to performance requirements and therefore is a hindrance to high bandwidth services. The invention provides a system for managing connections which employs a proxy for each entity in the communication including each user and each telecommunication network. This allows a communication to be established with consideration for the resources available to each entity, in their respective limitations. This allows new services to be implemented over multiple networks, with the assurance that the necessary bandwidth and other resources will be available.
Abstract:
Current telecommunication Service Providers allow Users to choose from a small selection of telecommunication services with predetermined performance parameters and prices. The invention provides a system in which Service Providers and Users negotiate the parameters and prices of telecommunication services in real time, allowing the Service Providers and Users to establish communications that better optimise their available resources and current needs. This is done by having software agents that represent each concerned party, negotiate the terms of the communication in real time. Further, the invention allows third parties to create new agent or negotiating discipline software available over the Internet, which will allow the technology to mature quickly, and to respond to new services and/or requirements.
