Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transparent document feeder enabling reading a high-quality image from a transparent original without damaging the image recording region of a film without requiring time and effort of loading a transparent document in a carrying holder. SOLUTION: The document feeder is provided with a first rail for guiding one end of the transparent original, a second rail provided in parallel with the first rail with the original reading region sandwiched and guiding the other end of the transparent original, a first belt opposing the first rail at a position where the one end of the transparent original is positioned therebetween and carrying the transparent original along the first rail, a second belt opposing the second rail at a position where the other end of the transparent original is positioned therebetween and carrying the transparent original along the second rail, a first engaging means for engaging the one end of the transparent original with the first belt, a second engaging means for engaging the other end of the transparent original with the second belt, and a driving means for driving the first belt and the second belt synchronously with each other. Abstract:
There is provided an image reading apparatus wherein prior to fine scan of an original image using a line CCD sensor at high resolution, a single prescan at low resolution is performed on the scanning lines of the original image using at least two different storage times of the line CCD sensor, in order to determine the reading conditions for the fine scan at the high resolution and the conditions for correction the fine scanned image date. Irrespective of the density of a particular frame image, a single prescan suffices for detecting maximum and minimum densities as well as high-density and medium-to low density image data of appropriate precision in an appropriate and positive way. Then, image information for acquiring not only optimal reading conditions for fine scan that are associated with the density and other characteristics of the original image, but also the conditions as for correcting the captured image data processing conditions can be obtained.
Abstract:
There is herein described a method for the calibration and validation of motion picture scans using a transparent calibration pattern (14) being placed in front of or behind a motion picture film (10) wherein the calibration pattern is measured through perforations (12) in the film.
Abstract:
Described herein is a film scanner, such as scanner for scanning motion picture film, the film scanner comprising one or more imaging devices configured to collect an image of an imaging area; and a transit system for producing relative motion of the film and the imaging device. Advantageously, at least one of the imaging devices comprises a digital single lens reflex (SLR) camera.
Abstract:
In a photographic processing method, an image unit having a plurality of printable image frames is received. The image frames include a data frame having subchannel information. An indicator of the presence of the subchannel information is detected. A bitstream of all of the image frames is generated. Responsive to the indicator, the data frame is extracted from the bitstream and subchannel information is read from the data frame. Fulfillment of image frames of the bitstream is provided in accordance with the subchannel information. If no indicator is detected, then the image frames are fulfilled in accordance with a different, default subchannel.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for directly converting visual images, such as motion picture film, to a digital format and recording stable archival film elements so that a digitally-recorded film master or other visual image can be accurately reproduced without the necessity of creating a digital intermediate.
