Abstract:
The present invention provides a device for forming a moving web of laminated composite material having window portions therein from a moving continuous web of plastic film material and a moving continuous web of paper material. The device comprises a cutter for repeatingly cutting spaced apart perforated window patterns in the paper web and a wetting unit for wetting the film web at spaced apart target areas having shapes substantially identical to the perforated window patterns. The device further comprises a phasing arrangement having both a coarse mode and a fine mode of operation for providing accurate registry of the perforated window patterns and the wetted target areas. A wetting synchronization unit synchronizes the wetting unit with the film target areas whereby the target areas and only the target areas are wetted by the wetting unit. Also provided is a device for removing a paper chad portion from the perforated window patterns subsequent to lamination.
Abstract:
A decorative corrugated paper product having a preprinted and/or decorated transparent plastic film (114) adhesively applied to at least one of the facing sheets (112), the other side of which is adapted for subsequent adhesion to a fluted corrugated medium in the preparation of the corrugated product, wherein the printing and/or decoration is visable through the plastic film on the exterior of the facing sheet and a method of producing such a product wherein a paper facing sheet is prepared for use in the manufacture of a corrugated paper product, one of said sides having adhesively bonded thereto the transparent reverse printed, plastic film, preparing a fluted corrugated medium having two sides and adhesively attaching the tips of the flutes on one side of the fluted corrugating medium to the other of the sides of the facing sheet, so as to form a preprinted corrugated product.
Abstract:
A laminating device for laminating a continuous web of paper material to a continuous web of film material for forming a continuous web of laminated composite material at a laminating nip. Apparatus for dividing the paper web into at least two segregated tension zones upstream of the laminating nip and for dividing the composite web into at least two segregated tension zones downstream of the laminating nip are described. Control systems for monitoring and maintaining the tension in each tension zone at different, preset values, are also described.
Abstract:
Apparatus is provided for each can filler unit of a can filling machine comprising a support for holding a liquid level controller within a housing of the can filler unit and control apparatus operated from outside of the housing for moving the support to position the liquid level controller at a proper position to ensure that each can is being accurately filled.
Abstract:
A milk carton blank (10) formable into a liquid tight parallelepiped shaped milk carton (20). The milk carton blank (10) comprises a generally rectangular shape having a plurality of panel portions (70, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 76, 77, 78, 80, 81, 82, 85, 86, 87) formed by a gridwork of longitudinal (32, 34, 36, 38) and transverse (42, 44) fold lines. Cutout portions (91, 92, 93, 94) in oppositely positioned top and bottom panel portions allow the top and bottom panel portions to be folded and sealed with a relatively small number of operations. A perforated tab portion is described which may be removed from a tongue portion of the milk carton to provide a pouring spout. Additional folding lines are described which allow a portion of a top and lateral side panel of the milk carton to be thrust outwardly to facilitate pouring of liquid therefrom.
