Abstract: 1441230 Pressure-sensitive record medium NCR CORP 10 Dec 1974 [28 Jan 1974] 53316/74 Heading D2B A pressure-sensitive dye transfer record medium comprises a flexible substrate coated with (a) an intermediate layer of polymeric material carrying a dye-decolorising material and (b) a top coating including microcapsules of a colourless chromogenic material and of a coreactant material reactive with the chromogenic material to form a coloured dye, the arrangement being such that when pressure is applied to the uncoated side of the substrate, the microcapsules rupture, and a coloured dye is formed and transferred to an adjacent receiving surface, the dye-decolorising material acting to decolorise coloured dye remaining in or on the microcapsule coating after dye transfer. Conventional chromogenic materials and coreactant materials may be used. The dye decolorising material may be an organophosphate, polyethylene glycol, quaternary amine,'guanidine derivative, or an amidine. The substrate may be paper, a plastics film, metal foil, spun polymer webbing or sheet. The record medium may be used as a replacement sheet in carbonless copy paper systems. The receiving surface may be any surface normally receptive of an ink e.g. paper, cloth, leather, plastics, metal, or wood.

Abstract: 1331416 Microcapsular preparations NA- TIONAL CASH REGISTER CO 24 Jan 1972 [12 Feb 1971] 3242/72 Addition to 1197406 Heading B8C [Also in Division D2] A liquid dispersion in which minute polymeric capsules are bound together with cellulosic fibres is prepared by dispersing by agitation the fibres and minute droplets of a liquid nucleus material in a solution of a film-forming polymeric material, effecting liquid-liquid phase separation in the solution, and continuing the agitation of the solution to disperse therein the emergent polymer-rich liquid phase such that it deposits on and around the droplets of liquid nucleus material to form capsular walls there- around and binds the formed capsules to the fibres. The liquid nucleus material may comprise a coloured, chromogenic, odorous, or medicinal material. The film-forming material may be of the kind specified in Specification 1,197,406.
