Abstract: An industrial process field device includes first and second loop terminals configured to couple to a two-wire process control loop. Device circuitry is powered from the process control loop and monitors a process variable or controls a control device. A current regulator is in series with the loop terminals, and regulates a loop current. A first shunt voltage regulator regulates a voltage across the device circuitry. Supplemental circuitry is connected in series with the first shunt voltage regulator and the second loop terminal, and is powered by power from the two-wire process control loop shunted through the first shunt voltage regulator. A second shunt voltage regulator is connected in series with the first shunt voltage regulator and the second loop terminal, and in parallel with the supplemental circuitry, and regulates a voltage across the supplemental circuitry.

Abstract: A wireless field device for use in an industrial process includes input/output terminals to couple to a process interface element and a discrete input/output channel configured to receive a discrete input signal from the process interface element through the input/output terminals when configured as a discrete input channel, the discrete input/output channel further configured to provide a discrete output to the process interface element through the input/output terminals when configured as discrete output channel. Wireless communication circuitry transmits and receives information. A controller transmits information through the communication circuitry based upon a sensed process variable, provides a discrete output signal when the discrete input/output channel is configured as a discrete output channel and receives a discrete input signal when configured as a discrete input channel. An external power supply input is couples to an external power supply and a battery power supply input couples a battery. Power supply circuitry powers the controller from at most one of the external power supply or the battery.

Abstract: A method of detecting a partial discharge in an electrical asset includes sensing of a discharge current in the electrical asset using a transducer and responsively providing a transducer output; processing the transducer output by comparing the transducer output to a baseline; calculating an accumulated amount by which the transducer output exceeds the baseline; decreasing the accumulated amount with time; detecting partial discharge in the electrical asset based upon the accumulated amount; and providing an output related to detected partial discharge. A partial discharge detection system for detecting a partial discharge in an electrical asset includes a transducer configured to receive a signal from the electrical asset generated due to an occurrence of partial discharging in the electrical asset and responsively providing a transducer output. Processing circuitry compares the transducer output to a baseline, calculates an accumulated amount by which the transducer output exceeds the baseline, decreases the accumulated amount with time, and detects partial discharge in the electrical asset based upon the accumulated amount. Output circuitry provides an output related to detected partial discharge.

The bioreactor vessel comprises a bioreactor bag wall having an interior side and an exterior side and an aperture extending from the interior side to the exterior side, wherein the interior side is configured to contact and house a reaction mixture. The bioreactor vessel also comprises a port mounted proximate the aperture, the port including a flange fixedly attached to the bioreactor bag, such that a fluidic seal is maintained along a circumference of the flange. Abstract: A remote seal assembly for a process transmitter includes a seal body containing a cavity sealed by a diaphragm. The seal body configured to be mounted to a process element containing a process fluid such that a first side of the diaphragm is exposed to the process fluid. A capillary contains a fill fluid that is in fluid communication with the cavity and a second side of the diaphragm. A coupling has a capillary recess and two cavities separated by a second diaphragm. The capillary extends through the capillary recess and connects to the coupling such that the fill fluid in the capillary is in fluid communication with one of the two cavities and the second diaphragm. A thermally conductive element preferably extends continuously along the capillary from the seal body toward the coupling and into the capillary recess without contacting the coupling.

Abstract: A process transmitter includes a process variable sensor, a test circuit, a switch and a controller. The process variable sensor includes a sensor output that is indicative of a sensed process variable. The test circuit is configured to detect a condition of the process variable sensor. The switch is configured to selectively connect the test circuit to the process variable sensor and disconnect the test circuit from the process variable sensor. The controller is configured to obtain a measurement of the process variable, control the switch, detect a condition of the process variable sensor by comparing the sensor output when the test circuit is connected to the process variable sensor to the sensor output when the test circuit is disconnected from the process variable sensor, and communicate the condition in the measurement to an external control unit.

Abstract: A microwave resonator flame ionization detector assembly includes a microwave resonator disposed proximate a flame to evaluate an ion concentration in a flame effluent. A resonant frequency of the microwave resonator is detected, and a reflection coefficient of the resonator is used to determine an electric permittivity of a material in which the resonator is immersed. The electric permittivity depends on an ion concentration proximal to the resonator, and the ion concentration is related to the concentration of hydrocarbons present in the flame.
