Disclosed are a spatial light modulator, a holographic image display device including the same, and a spatial light modulating method. The spatial light modulator modulates a phase of light incident on a plurality of pixels and includes: a refractive index conversion layer of which a refractive index varies by optical or electrical signals; a metal layer which is arranged on the refractive index conversion layer and generates surface plasmon; and a high refraction layer on the metal layer. The phase of light can be modulated by using the surface plasmon.

The present invention relates to an acousto-optic device, a light modulator, an optical scanner, and a display apparatus using the same. The acousto-optic device according to the embodiment of the present invention includes an elastic medium, a meta structure layer which includes a first layer which is formed on a first surface of the elastic medium and a second layer which is formed on the first layer and includes a preset repetitive pattern, and an acoustic wave generating unit which applies an acoustic wave to the elastic medium.

Disclosed are a complex spatial light modulator and a three-dimensional image display device including the same. The complex spatial light modulator includes a spatial light modulator for modulating a phase of light; a prism array disposed next to the spatial light modulator; and a polarization-independent diffractive element for diffracting light that has passed through the prism array. Accordingly, the complex spatial light modulator can modulate both phase and amplitude of light.

PURPOSE: A multi view 3D image display device and a method thereof are provided to extend a range of a 3D image to a distance direction. CONSTITUTION: An image generating unit(110) generates an image. An active optical element(150) changes an optical progressing route including the image outputted from the image generating unit. The active optical element provides the image to a plurality of viewing points. A plurality of the viewing points is located according to a first direction which is in a line with the image generating unit. A variable focus lens(130) changes a location which the image is focused according to a second direction estranged from the image generating unit.

PURPOSE: A three-dimensional display device and a method thereof are provided to form a time point of successive infinity number by using a scanning method by point. CONSTITUTION: A collimator(60) proceeds a direction of an incident light to a specified direction. A beam scanner(20) scans the light from a light source by point to a desired location on the collimator. A diffraction element(70) diffracts the light which is changed to the collimated light by the collimator. The diffraction element scans a viewing angle.
