    Abstract: A lower stiffener is provided to protect a pedestrian in a vehicle crash and reduce an air resistance by attaching the support unit to lower portion of the bumper and rotatably connecting the bumper rib to the tip of the support unit. A lower stiffener is installed at a lower portion of a bumper of a vehicle. The lower stiffener includes a support unit(532) and a bumper rib(534). The support unit protrudes to the front side of the vehicle. The bumper rib is rotatably connected to the tip of the support unit through a hinge. An operation section(540) rotates the bumper rib so that the bumper rib is horizontally located when the vehicle collides. The operation section includes a resilient unit between the support unit and the bumper rib to resiliently move the bumper rib to a horizontal position and a unit for maintaining and releasing the vertical state of the bumper rib.
