Abstract:
The invention is directed to an electronic device. The electronic device provides, for display on a display device, a user interface including a first set of columns, two or more columns in the first set of columns each including two or more menu items. The electronic device receives a selection input. In response to receiving the selection input, in accordance with a determination that the selection input corresponds to selection of a first column the electronic device provides, for display on the display device, a second set of columns, two or more of the columns in the second set of columns corresponding to different subsets of menu items that were displayed in the first column that was selected in response to the selection input.
Abstract:
An improved navigation application can generate and display a composite representation of multiple POIs when POI icons representing the POIs appear to be overlapping. Some embodiments display the composite representation when a certain zoom level is reached for a map including the POI icons. The navigation application can determine POIs that may be of interest to the user based on user attributes (e.g., preferences) and activity history. In certain embodiments, the navigation application can generate the composite representation based on importance values associated with the POIs. The composite representation can include multiple POI icons that are displayed adjacent to each other such that a user of the navigation application can readily identify POIs that are likely to be of interest to the user within a region.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to making payments with a mobile device. In one example process, the mobile device receives and stores information for one or more payment accounts on the mobile device. The mobile device is used to make payments using the payment accounts. In some examples, authorization to proceed with a payment is performed before each purchase made by the user. The authorization process can include receiving a verification of the user, such as a fingerprint scan or passcode. In some examples, a payment account is selected from among available payment accounts. In some examples, an indication is displayed of a digital item associated with a purchased item. In some examples, a payment transaction is initiated with participants of an ongoing communication. In some examples, an application of a retailer is invoked based on the availability of the application. In some examples, a purchase recommendation is provided.
Abstract:
Techniques for performing context-sensitive actions in response to touch input are provided. A user interface of an application can be displayed. Touch input can be received in a region of the displayed user interface, and a context can be determined. A first action may be performed if the context is a first context and a second action may instead be performed if the context is a second context different from the first context. In some embodiments, an action may be performed if the context is a first context and the touch input is a first touch input, and may also be performed if the context is a second context and the touch input is a second touch input.
Abstract:
A device displays a plurality of selectable user interface objects that includes one or more folder icons on a display. The device detects a first input requesting to select a folder icon for a folder that includes selectable icons divided between a plurality of distinct separately displayed pages of a folder view. In response to detecting the first input, the device displays a first page of the folder view. While displaying the first page of the folder view, the device detects a second input that corresponds to a request to display a second page of the folder view. In response to detecting the second input, the device ceases to display the first page and displays the second page of the folder view.
Abstract:
A mobile computing device can be used to locate a vehicle parking location. In particular, the mobile device can automatically identify when a vehicle in which the mobile device is located has entered into a parked state. The mobile device can determine that the vehicle is in a parked state by analyzing one or more parameters that indicate a parked state or a transit state. The location of the mobile device at a time corresponding to when the vehicle is identified as being parked can be associated with an identifier for the current parking location.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, computer-readable media, and apparatuses for facilitating message composition are presented. In some embodiments, an electronic computing device can receive user input and determine a set of contextual attributes based on the user input. The device can determine a language based on the set of contextual attributes to determine the language desired to be used for the message composition and switch a keyboard layout to one corresponding to the determined language. Further, the device can determine one or more languages that may be used in the message composition based on the set of contextual attributes and enable functionalities associated with those languages. Further, in some embodiments, the device can determine one or more languages from the user's dictation based on the set of contextual attributes and generate a textual representation of the audio input.
Abstract:
Many map-based applications available today are designed for a variety of different devices (e.g., desktops, laptops, tablet devices, smartphones, handheld global positioning system (GPS) receivers, etc.) and for various different purposes (e.g., navigation, browsing, sports, etc.). Most of these applications generate displays of a map based on map data that describes relative locations of streets, highways, points of interest, etc., in the map. The maps used in such applications are usually two-dimensional (2D) maps or three-dimensional (3D) maps. However, a large number of the applications use 2D maps due in part to the processing-intensive demands of viewing 3D maps. For the same reason, the applications that use 3D maps are often slow, inefficient, plain, and/or simple, to the point that renders the application useless.
Abstract:
With proliferation of mobile devices such as smartphones, users are enjoying numerous applications of numerous kinds that can be run on their devices. One popular type of such application is mapping and navigation applications that allow user to browse maps and get route directions. Despite their popularity, these mapping and navigation applications have shortcomings with their user interfaces and features that cause inconvenience to the users.
Abstract:
For a device that executes an integrated map and navigation application, a method for providing different operational modes of the application is described. The method provides a first operational mode for browsing and searching a map and a second operational mode for providing a navigation presentation that provides a set of navigation directions along a navigated route by reference to the map.
