Polyester mouldings are produced by curing polyester moulding materials containing a mixture of (1) 20 to 90 parts by weight of at least one ethylenically unsaturated copolymerizable polyester which incorporates, in ester combination (a) 20 to 45 mole per cent of radicals of α-ethylenically unsaturated dibasic carboxylic acids, (b) 20 to 45 mole per cent of radicals of dihydric alcohols, (c) 10 to 60 mole per cent of radicals of hydroxycarboxylic acids and (d) 0 to 20 mole per cent of radicals of other carboxylic acid and/or alcoholic compounds, (2) 10 to 80 parts by weight of at least one ethylenically unsaturated copolymerizable monomer and (3) 0À001 to 1 part by weight of a conventional polymerization inhibitor in the presence of a conventional polymerization initiator, wherein polyester moulding materials are used in whose polyesters (1) the radicals of the hydroxycarboxylic acids (c) consist to the extent of at least 50% by weight, with reference to the total weight of radicals (c), of radicals of α,α-dimethyl-#- hydroxypropionic acid. In the examples polyesters derived from maleic anhydride, butanediol-1,3 or 2,2-dimethylpropanediol-1,3 and α,α- dimethyl-#-hydroxy propionic acid are used and styrene is employed as the comonomer, hydroquinone as the inhibitor and cyclohexanone peroxide and cobalt naphthenate as the initiators.

    Abstract: 1,139,635. Making fuel gas. BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK A.G. 27 May, 1966 [29 May, 1965], No. 23887/66. Heading C5E. Fuel gas rich in the lower paraffins is made by adding to a liquid hydrocarbon from 0À5 to 5 times its weight of water, and reacting the mixture at temperatures of from 400‹ to 800‹ C. and a pressure of 300 to 900 atmospheres. Feedstocks include light naphtha, crude petroleum, petroleum distillates and residues, liquefied gaseous hydrocarbons, and in a specific example, ethylbenzene. Carbon black and various specified polynuclear hydrocarbons may be formed, and aromatics may be withdrawn from the reaction vessel and used for heating the vessel. The process may be batch or continuous. Three specific examples are described.

Palladium values are extracted from an aqueous solution containing them by a method of liquid/liquid extraction using an amine which contains at least six carbon atoms per nitrogen atom, or solution of such amine in an organic solvent, separating the amine phase and reextracting the Pd values with an aqueous acid solution, the amount and/or the concentration of the aqueous acid being greater than in the original solution so that the activity of PO 2+ in said aqueous acid is less than in the original solution. The inert solvent for the amine preferably has little or no miscibility with water. The original aqueous solution may be acid and may have been obtained in the process for the production of glyoxal by oxidizing ethylene in which Pd is a catalyst. Suitable aqueous acids for the re-extraction are given as HC1, H 2 SO 4 , H 3 PO 4 and HNO 3 , but palladium iodide, bromide, chloride, sulphate and nitrate are recorded as being obtained by the process, although nitric acid is the preferred acid and the obtaining of solutions of Pd in nitric acid is exemplified. Lists of suitable amines and inert solvents are given in the Specification.
