Abstract:
Systems, methodologies, and devices are described that manage employment of network (NW)-initiated resource allocation and user equipment (UE)-initiated resource allocation for a UE. To employ NW-initiated resource allocation, a core network can transmit an indicator to the UE indicating that Policy and Charging Control (PCC) is supported by a network associated with the UE. The UE receives the indicator and other information, such as indicator regarding whether the current access network supports NW-initiated resource allocation and whether the current application prefers NW-initiated resource allocation, determines that NW-initiated resource allocation is to be employed, and the core network initiates resource allocation for the UE. If any indicator is not received by the UE, or the UE receives an indicator that indicates PCC is not supported or not preferred, the UE determines that UE-initiated resource allocation is to be employed, and transmits a request for resource allocation to the core network.
Abstract:
In a multimedia communication session with multiple media components, one or more media components can be transferred from one access network to another access network and yet maintain the continuity of the overall communication session. Each session is first identified and thereafter the media component intended to be transferred is also identified. The identities of the identified session and component are sent to one or more entities within the communication network for executing the media component transfer.

Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for network pre-configuration of Quality of Service (QoS) parameters in a communication channel triggered by establishment of packet data access by an access terminal with the network. The network-determined and network-initiated pre-establishment of the QoS parameters are for one or more reservation links, which each relate to a corresponding one or more applications resident on the access terminal.
Abstract:
Apparatuses and methods for implementing explicit congestion notification (ECN) across disparate networks, configurations, and protocols are disclosed. In response to an indicated network congestion, a data rate adjustment request is provided for requesting a lower data rate from a first user equipment (UE) in a first network.
Abstract:
Disclosed are apparatus and methods operable to distribute targeted content. Additionally, disclosed are corresponding apparatus and methods operable to selectively choose and cache selected ones from among the distributed targeted content, and to further choose ones from among the cached content to present on a device. In some aspects, selective caching of content may be based upon a match between predetermined content attribute information and predetermined profile information. Further, in some aspects, an indicator is operable to trigger the selective inclusion of one or more of the cached content in a presentation of other content, which may be based on a match between a desired content attribute associated with the indicator and the respective predetermined content attribute information of the cached content.
Abstract:
The disclosure is directed to an access terminal. The access terminal includes a display configured to enable a user to view a presentation having content, and a processing component configured to receive the presentation and select an advertisement to insert into the content of the presentation before the presentation is provided to the display for viewing by the user.
Abstract:
A mobile station that is configured to facilitate coordination of supplementary services in a centralized fashion may include circuit-switched (CS) domain components that are configured to place voice telephone calls in a CS domain. The mobile station may also include IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) components that are configured to place voice telephone calls in an IMS domain. The IMS components may include a transport component for facilitating communication with an IMS core network. The IMS components may also include a signaling component that is configured to exchange information with a centralized server on the IMS core network via the transport component. At least some of the information that is exchanged with the centralized server may be related to supplementary services for the voice telephone calls in the CS domain as well as the voice telephone calls in the IMS domain.
Abstract:
A communication system extends IETF Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) signaling used by IMS architecture. As a basic use case, initially a first user equipment (UE1) (controller) is in a media session (e.g., audio, video and message session) with a remote UE. To transfer provider of one media component to a controllee UE, the controller UE1 sends a REFER message with a relevant body to trigger the media session operations to a Service Centralization and Continuity Application Server (SCC AS). The SCC AS is able to interpret the contents of the REFER message to perform the media session manipulation on one or multiple UEs (originating UE itself or other UEs). The innovation provides for a REFER message that convey what needs to be done in a separate SIP header carrying target dialog and media line number(s), in a SDP body that REFER carries, or XML body that will be in REFER.
