    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may communicate with a base station using a first beam set of a group of beam sets, where each beam set includes a beam from a first set of beams with a first polarization and a beam from a second set of beams with a second polarization. The UE may receive a set of reference signals corresponding to a set of transmit beams of the base station, where the UE receives at least one reference signal for each beam of the first and second sets of beams. The UE may select a second beam set from the group of beam sets based on one or more parameters associated with the second beam set and based on receiving the set of reference signals, and may communicate with the base station using the selected beam set.

    Abstract: In embodiments, a base station may send to a user equipment (UE) a P3 beam management (BM) channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) having two ports, and may receive from the UE a P3 BM report in response. The P3 BM report may include a proactive UE beam switch indication and a CSF report corresponding to the best UE beam determined by a UE based on the P3 BM CSI-RS. The base station may determine whether the P3 BM report includes an indication that the UE will perform a beam switch from a first UE beam to a second UE beam, and may determine a UE beam switch slot during which the UE will perform the beam switch. Starting at the beam switch slot, the base station may send a physical downlink shared data channel (PDSCH) transmission to the UE using the adjusted downlink transmission parameters.

    Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide a technique for wireless communications by a user equipment (UE). The UE implements the technique to select a number of component carriers (CCs) in both a first frequency range and a second frequency range. The UE determines a schedule for performing search and measurement in the selected number of CCs. The UE performs search and measurement in the selected CCs according to the determined schedule.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may transmit, to a base station, control signaling indicating a capability of the UE to apply an amplitude control procedure to one or more antenna elements for beamforming and indicating that the UE is applying the amplitude control procedure. The UE may receive a control message scheduling transmission of an uplink message. The UE may generate a signal including the uplink message using the amplitude control procedure, which may adjust one or more amplitudes of the signal. The UE may transmit the signal via the one or more antenna elements. In some cases, UE may indicate an amount of power loss in the signal based on the amplitude control procedure, and the base station may transmit downlink transmissions using a lower order modulation and coding scheme or an applied power boost to compensate for the power loss.

    Abstract: Dynamic User Equipment (UE) beam switching for millimeter wave (mmWave) measurements in asynchronous networks is discussed in which a UE configured with a plurality of UE beams receives timing information of detected cells in an asynchronous network, and calculates, based on the timing information, a maximum offset for the detected cells indicating a timing difference between a pair of cells of the detected cells that is larger than a timing difference between any other pair of the detected cells. A UE beam switch from a UE beam to another UE beam of the plurality of beams is scheduled based on the maximum offset, which includes using the maximum offset to determine how often the UE beam switch can be performed. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.
