Abstract:
Cyclophosphamide analogs are provided of general formula (II), wherein R and R are each (C2-C6)alkyl, substituted with a leaving group such as halo or alkylsulfonyl, R and R are the same as R and R or are H and Ar is a heteroaromatic ring and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to oligopeptide derivatives that are conjugated to DNA alkylating agents (formula (I)) pharmaceutical compositions thereof, and method for treatment of cancer using the subject compounds.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to protected thio analogs of the pyrimidine and purine bases for syntheses of DNA and RNA by chemical or enzymatic methods. The subject analogs include reagents suitable for DNA or RNA synthesis via phosphoramidite, H-phosphonate or phosphotriester chemistry as well as reagents suitable for use by RNA and DNA polymerase, including thermostable polymerases employed by PCR or other nucleic acid amplification techniques. Methods of synthesizing the nucleotide analogs are also provided by the present invention. The nucleotide analogs of this invention can thus be incorporated into oligonucleotides or polynucleotides, deprotected and derivatized with a functional group. A method of synthesizing oligonucleotides with a functional group using the subject nucleotide analogs is also provided.
Abstract:
A method for obtaining the inverse halftone or gray scale image of a halftone image is disclosed in which the halftone image can be comprised of clustered dots or dispersed dots, and it is not necessary to have knowledge of the screening methods or parameter. This method involves adaptive run-length filtering over at least one of rows and colums and diagonals of said halftones. A method for transmitting and receiving a gray scale image in a compressed and decompressed manner, respectively, is also disclosed for efficient facsimile transmission of images. This method involves transmitting a local mean continuous tone image and an error image.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a newly discovered Streptomyces species, Streptomyces dicklowii which exhibits nematocidal and fungicidal activity in agricultural and horticultural settings. S. dicklowii can be used as a biocontrol agent in the treatment and prevention of nematode and/or fungal infection in plants, and particularly in commercially important crop plants.
Abstract:
Novel 20-substituted-pregnene derivatives, compositions containing such derivatives and methods for their use and manufacture are disclosed. The 20-substituted-pregnene derivatives inhibit the androgen biosynthesis enzymes 17(alpha)-hydroxylase/C17,20-lyase and 5(alpha)-reductase and are therefore useful for reducing or inhibiting production of androgens where they have an adverse role in a disease or physiological condition in vertebrate species.
Abstract:
Bacillus thuringiensis strains having an enhanced range of insecticidal activity are constructed by genetic engineering and a single colony mating technique. The mating technique allows for expression of chromosomal protoxin genes in the recipient strain. The preferred strain comprises a Bacillus thuringiensis subspecies israelensis that has been genetically modified by the stable incorporation of a protoxin gene from Bacillus thuringiensis subspecies kurstaki.
Abstract:
The present invention as directed to a compound which comprises an endothelin antagonist polypeptide that is at least 40 % homologous to an endothelin active peptide, consisting of Et-1, Et-2, Et-3, SC, SA and SB and has formula (I) and pharmaceutically acceptable salts.
Abstract:
A method of forming a native oxide from an aluminum-bearing Group III-V semiconductor material is provided. The method entails exposing the aluminium-bearing Group III-V semiconductor material to a water-containing environment and a temperature of at least about 375 DEG C to convert at least a portion of said aluminum-bearing material to a native oxide characterized in that the thickness of said native oxide is substantially the same as or less than the thickness of that portion of said aluminum-bearing Group III-V semiconductor material thus converted. The native oxide thus formed has particular utility in electrical and optoelectrical devices, such as lasers.
