Abstract:
Methods of blocking stains on a substrate to be painted are disclosed, as are stain-blocking composites that are useful according to the disclosed methods. In a broad aspect, the methods include the steps of contacting a stained portion of the substrate with a dry film layer; applying pressure to the dry film layer to cause the dry film layer to adhere to the stained portion of the substrate and to at least a portion of the substrate adjacent the stained portion of the substrate; and subsequently coating the dry film layer and the adjacent substrate with one or more additional liquid coating layers. Stain blocking composites useful according to the methods described include a release layer, to which the pressure is applied; a dry film layer, that can be clear or pigmented, that serves to block the stain; and an optional adhesive layer, intended to assist in adhering the dry film layer to the stained portion of the substrate and to at least that portion of the substrate adjacent the stained portion of the substrate.
Abstract:
Among other things, a pattern of dry particles of a pigment is provided on a transfer layer. The pattern of dry particles is transferred onto a surface of a ceramic substrate in preparation for firing of the dry particles to form a permanent pattern on the ceramic substrate.
Abstract:
Abstract:

Abstract:
A process and apparatus for manufacturing a film that can be used to apply varnish and colour onto an object to be decorated. The process includes the steps of; (1) applying a layer of colour onto a first film, which has release properties; (2) applying a layer of varnish onto the colour layer of the first film; (3) partially curing the varnish layer; (4) transferring by release the layers of varnish and colour from the first film onto a second film having release properties, wherein the second film is more flexible than the first; and (5) further curing the transferred layer of varnish on the second film.
Abstract:
A method and a device for applying powdered material (1) on a surface (3) comprise forming a flow of liquid (8), preferably by ejecting said liquid as drops from ejectors (7) arranged in array and controlled by computer means, associating portions of said powdered material (1) with said flow of liquid (8), moving said flow of liquid (8), together with said portions, towards said surface (3).
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for producing a coating of solvent-free adhesive systems on especially release-coated substrates. According to the inventive method, a fluid film is applied onto a rotating roller (3) using a fluid application device (2). The adhesive system (11) is applied onto said fluid film in one or more layers using an adhesive application device (1). The substrate (7) is contacted with the roller (6) so that the adhesive system (11) is transferred from the roller (3) to the substrate (7).
Abstract:
The present invention concerns a process for coating a web by applying a coating layer comprising pigment particles to the surface of the web. According to the invention, the coating layer is contacted at a preselected stage with a smooth surface, the coating layer is at least partially dried while being contacted with said surface to provide a smooth outer surface of the layer with densely packed particles, and the coating layer is separated from the smooth surface. The smooth surface of the web provided by the invention is ideal for printing or for secondary coating with polymers. Paper and board products according to the invention are easily reclaimed and can be treated in a normal pulper, because they do not contain any metal foils or polymer films.
