Abstract:
Fibrous materials, compositions that include fibrous materials, and uses of the fibrous materials and compositions are disclosed. For example, the fibrous materials can be operated on by a microorganism to produce ethanol or a by-product, such as a protein or lignin.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an essentially tubular flexible packaging intended for containing a semi-liquid or pasty product, which includes an apron, a head, an added piece of material at least on the inside of the apron, and optionally a lid, the apron consists of a rolled-up sheet and includes a longitudinal weld for assembling the edges thereof together, and the head being attached to the edge of one of the ends of the apron. The apron includes a ratio of at least 30% of recycled material or material from renewable resources, and the added piece of material is arranged so as to eliminate a discontinuity in the inner surface in the area of the longitudinal weld.
Abstract:
A sheet manufacturing apparatus is provided with a defibrating unit configured to defibrate a defibration object in the atmosphere, a mixing unit configured to mix additive agents including resin into a defibrated material, a moisture-adjusting unit configured to adjust moisture in a mixture of the defibrated material and the additive agents, and a heating unit configured to heat the moisture-adjusted mixture.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the treatment or prevention of skeletal disorders, in particular skeletal diseases, developed by patients that display abnormal increased activation of the fibroblast growth factor receptor 3 (FGFR3), in particular by expression of a constitutively activated mutant of FGFR3.
Abstract:
A composition includes: a) polystyrene, the polystyrene including polybutadiene; b) vegetal fibers having a length lower than 50 μm; and c) at least one compatibility agent including a polybutadiene maleic anhydride copolymer, the copolymer including at least 17% by weight of the copolymer of maleic anhydride. The composition is used for manufacturing a plastic composition. The plastic composition obtained by heating the composition, a sheet obtained by extruding the plastic composition, and a container obtained by thermoforming the sheet are also described.
Abstract:
A fiber-reinforced composite material which comprises Lyocell-based carbon fiber and polymer resin is provided. The fiber-reinforced composite material has excellent physical properties, including low thermal conductivity, excellent interfacial adhesion and excellent strength, compared to fiber-based composite materials prepared using conventional polyacrylonitrile-based carbon fiber, pitch-based carbon fiber or the like. In addition, the fiber-reinforced composite material is environmentally friendly and has low production costs compared to fiber-reinforced composite materials comprising conventional rayon-based carbon fiber produced using a highly toxic carbon disulfide solvent.
Abstract:
A method for preparing a more reliable connection between two members is provided. The method involves the use of a gas-removal layer which allows for gas transport in a number of overall directions in a plane of the gas-removal layer. The gas-removal layer comprises a resin and during consolidation the gas-removal layer is deformed to form a collection substantially free from entrapped gas voids. In addition, a gas-removal layer is provided as well as a mould for casting of gas-removal layers and a method for preparing such a mould. The method and the gas-removal layer provided are particularly useful for manufacturing of wind turbine blades and spars for such blades.
Abstract:
A method of making a filter by thermoforming a plurality of individual packages each of the plurality of packages having a first portion hingably attached to a second portion and placing a media portion in each of the plurality of packages and dispensing a curable product in each of the plurality of individual packages and curing the curable product such that a portion of the media is now fixedly secured to the curable product.
Abstract:
A pultrusion machine for forming a laminated composite with a predetermined profile and the product obtained. The apparatus comprises at least two spools for supplying elongated reinforcements. A collator receives the elongated reinforcements and arranges the reinforcements in layered relationship to form a layered elongated bundle. A supply member wets the layered elongated bundle with plastisol to form a wetted elongated bundle. The wetted elongated bundle is transported through a pultrusion die wherein the wetted layered bundle is molded into the predetermined profile. A converting apparatus cures, or converts, the wetted layered bundle into the layered composite. A particularly preferred embodiment is an extrusion comprising a reinforcing material wherein said reinforcing material comprises a fiber reinforced plastisol.
Abstract:
The present invention provides composites prepared from melt blending compositions that generally include cellulosic pulp fibers having an alpha-cellulose purity of greater than 80% by weight, at least one water soluble binder, at least one lubricant, at least one compatibilizer, and at least one matrix polymer. The present invention further provides advantageous temperature profiles and feeding arrangements to be used in conjunction with the melt blending of such composites. The composites of the present invention exhibit reduced discoloration and improved fiber dispersion.
