Abstract:
A ground covering element having the basic shape of a square. All four basic sides of the around covering element have an engaging profile, each profile being symmetric with respect to a central axis of symmetry. Opposite engaging profiles are mirror images. Each engaging profile is complementary with the adjacent engaging profile. Each of the four corner regions of the ground covering element of a first type have a protrusion substantially the shape of a rectangular, isosceles triangle or of an area element similar to this triangle with curved legs. A ground covering element of a second type (42) is obtained by omitting the four protrusions from the ground covering element of the first type. The ground covering element of the second type may be laid together with additional ground covering elements of the second type or in combination with ground covering elements of the first type.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a construction kit made of concrete paving stones comprising substantially prismatic stone bodies of a uniform height and upright lateral surfaces. A plurality of stone paving stones (2) arranged in rows and having the same width in addition to the same or different lengths can be placed manually or placed by means of a machine with continuous or offset joints in said joint areas. A plurality of rows of paving stones that are arranged next to each other in a parallel position is used to form a rectangular or square packet that can be placed using a machine. The paving stones (2) have side surfaces (4) which have head pieces (2null) that are defined by a wavy line along part of their height and base pieces (2null) in sections, comprising domed areas (5) or projections jutting out laterally in relation to the head pieces (2null) extending along another part of their height. When the packets are assembled for placement in the vicinity of the end stones that make up a row of paving stones, they form a line of continuous joints or provide substantially winding-shaped joints (7) if so desired by replacing different sized end stones from adjacent packets that have been moved towards each other.
Abstract:
A family of non-convex and convex tiles which can be tiled together to fill a planar surface in a periodic or non-periodic manner. The tiles are derived from planar space frames composed of a plurality of regular p-sided polygonal nodes coupled by a plurality of struts. p is any odd number greater than three and an even number greater than six. The nodes and struts, along with the areas bounded by them, make up a tiling system. In addition, the lines joining the along the center lines of the struts define a large family of convex and non-convex tiles. The convex tiles include zonogons, and the non-convex tiles include tiles with one or more concave vertices including singly-concave, bi-concave (doubly-concave), multiply-concave and S-shaped tiles. The tiles can be converted to 3-dimensional space-filling blocks. When these blocks are hollow and inter-connected, architectural environments are possible. Other applications include tiles for walls, floors, and various architectural and other surfaces, environments, toys, puzzles, furniture and furnishings. Special art pieces, murals and sculptures are possible.
Abstract:
A slab element for covering the ground is made e.g. of concrete and forms as a single piece. It has a head portion and a stem portion meeting at a notional meeting surface. The element is delimited by two opposite end faces of equal length joined by sides that form angled traces about a longitudinal axis common to the head at the stem, each said angled trace being formed by a succession of sides comprising at said head an inclined side face inclined in one direction relatively to the axis, a lateral side face extending lengthwise with respect to the axis and another inclined side face inclined in the opposite direction with respect to the axis, and comprising at the stem a lateral side face extending lengthwise with respect to the axis which is complementary to the lateral face of the head, the end face of the head together with its inclined sides and its lateral faces and the meeting surface describing a centrally symmetrical octagon, and the meeting surface together with the end face and lateral faces of the stem being symmetrical about the center of the stem. The head may describe a regular octagon. The stem may describe a square. But the stem may also describe a circle. The elements can be laid to form a composite ground covering structure, laid e.g. in herringbone bond pattern, and laid e.g. to include one or more supplementing slab elements of the same peripheral configuration as the stems of the elements.
Abstract:
Prefabricated concrete elements for constructing paths corresponding to a width N or a multiple thereof contain two groups. The first group comprises flat, four-sided slabs for the straight sections of the path, having a dimension corresponding to the normal width N or half said normal width. The second group of prefabricated concrete elements comprise a plurality of sets of flat, sector slabs for the curved sections of the path having different predetermined radius each set consists of sector slabs having a predetermined radius and radii having a dimension corresponding to the normal width.
Abstract:
A stone arrangement for pavements comprises at least one center stone and, surrounding it, a multiplicity of border stones, the said center stone and border stones being provided with irregularly shaped interlocking recesses and projections to form a mutual anchoring of the stones and to prevent tilting of the border stones when exposed to an overload.
Abstract:
A plastic patio paver block comprises a top panel, a sidewall depending downwardly from a periphery of the top panel, a plurality of internal support members that depend downwardly from an inner face of the top panel and that are spaced inwardly from the sidewall, a plurality of drainage openings provided in the top panel, and a granular UV resistant material embedded into an upwardly facing plastic face of the top panel, wherein a portion of the granular UV resistant material is partially embedded in the upwardly facing plastic face.
Abstract:
1. A panel system is provided that includes: a first and second panel each having a top side providing a road surface and a bottom side opposite the top side, where the bottom side contacts a ground surface, and a plurality of lateral sides. At least one of the plurality of the lateral sides of the first and second panels include a feature that interlock adjacent lateral sides of the first and second panels against vertical movement relative to each other.
