PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrict an increase in the size of the positioning member of a light source unit with respect to the direction of the rotation axis of the rotary polygon mirror.SOLUTION: An optical scanner comprises: first and second light source units, each having a light source; a rotary polygon mirror configured to deflect and scan a laser beam emitted from the light source of each of the first and second light source units; and a positioning member having a first abutment part on which the first light source unit abuts and a second abutment part on which the second light source unit abuts, and configured to position the first and second light source units. The first and second light source units are positioned by the positioning member such that they are arranged side by side in the direction of the rotation axis of the rotary polygon mirror. The positioning member is a single member provided between the first and second light source units with respect to the direction of the rotation axis.

An optical component mounting structure includes an elastic member and a mounting portion. The elastic member applies pressure to an optical component toward a flat surface portion of a base. The mounting portion is provided at the base and mounts the elastic member. The elastic member has a pressing portion, a holding portion, and a positioning hole. The pressing portion has a tongue piece shape and elastically comes in contact with a light guide member. The holding portion supports one end of the pressing portion and holds elastically the mounting portion of the base. The positioning hole is formed through the holding portion and is to be engaged with each of a pair of positioning convex portions provided at the mounting portion of the base.

The present disclosure relates to an image reading device, including: a light emitting portion; a light guiding member; a holding member that holds the light emitting portion and the light guiding member; and a case member that holds the holding member. In the image reading device, the light guiding member is shaped like a stick, of which end portion is disposed to face the light emitting portion. The holding member holds the light emitting portion and the light guiding member. In addition, the holding member has: and a holding portion that disposes the light guiding member along a main scanning direction, and positions and holds an end portion on the light emitting portion side in the main scanning direction. An image reading apparatus has a platen, first and second carriages, a light source supported on the first carriage, a first mirror to deflect reflected light from the original document toward the second carriage, one or more second mirrors supported on the second carriage to guide the light from the first mirror to image reading device, and rail members. The first carriage has first and second mirror support portions for supporting one side edge portion of the first mirror by two points, and a third mirror support portion for supporting the other side edge portion by one point. The first carriage is supported slidably at its opposite side edge portions respectively on the rail members via slide members disposed at four right and left places including two front and back places, and a height position is adjustable for supporting the first mirror by one point.

An optical component structure includes an elongate optical component, a support member to which the optical component is fixed, and an adhesive for bonding the optical component to the support member. The optical component is provided with a contacting portion and a bonding portion different in position from the contacting portion. The contacting portion is brought into direct contact with the support member in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the optical component. The adhesive is applied to the bonding portion, but not to the contacting portion. Examples of the optical component include a linear light source unit and a lens unit used in an image sensor module.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light irradiation device that allows a substrate to be positioned on an attached member, and also, prevents non-uniform luminance distribution in a main scanning direction on an original surface, and to provide an image reading apparatus and an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: Three positioning pins 404 (protrusions) as a part to be positioned, integrally formed (molded) with a light guide plate 403 are inserted into three pin holes 404a and 404b as a light guide body positioning part, penetrating through a receiving base 405. The three positioning pins 404 are formed at three positions (center and both ends in a longitudinal direction) on the bottom surface of the light guide plate 403.
