SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 3 includes: read glass 30; and a read unit 31 for reading an image of an original at an original read position through the read glass 30. A spacer 10 is fitted to the read glass 30 at a position of an upstream side in an original carrying direction from the original read position on the side of the read glass 30 opposite to the read unit 31. Since the spacer 10 has a slope part 10a, the height of the spacer 10 at the downstream end thereof in the original carrying direction is shaped lower toward the downstream side in the original carrying direction. Thus, a space surrounded by the original, the spacer 10, and the read glass 30 and in which floating dust is pooled is much decreased.
