A feedwell for a thickener/clarifier includes a feedwell body (40), a feedwell inlet (41), a sidewall (42), and a discharge opening (48). At least one infeed conduit (21) is connected at an upstream end of the feedwell inlet (41). The sidewall (42) has a non-cylindrical curved peripheral surface defining a radially-outermost fluid boundary surface for an influent stream (60). The non-cylindrical curved peripheral surface may include portions of a volute surface, coil surface, helical surface, compound curve surface, spline curve surface, or spiral surface. Feedwells according to the invention provide a uniform settling tank feeding flux around exiting portions of the feedwell, control velocity gradients and shear rates, protect flocculated aggregates, normalize sedimentation conditions in the settling tank, and prevent large local accelerations and flow non-uniformities.

A conveyor apparatus includes a first conveyor apparatus and a second conveyor apparatus. The first conveyor apparatus is positionable adjacent to a feed conveying device. The first conveyor apparatus is configured to pivot about a position adjacent to the feed conveyor device or move laterally adjacent to the feed conveyor. The second conveyor apparatus is configured to move such that the second conveyor apparatus maintains a position substantially parallel to the first conveyor apparatus when the first conveyor apparatus moves or pivots. In some embodiments, the second conveyor apparatus may also be configured to move along a path so that the second conveyor apparatus is extendable beyond an end of the first conveyor apparatus. The path may be a linear path and may be substantially parallel to the length of the first conveyor apparatus such as a path that extends in a direction that is a few degrees off of being perfectly parallel.
Abstract:
A sludge or slurry physical stabilizing method combines coarse particles with a slurry of fine particles to generate a composite slurry having a substantially predetermined ratio of coarse particles to fine particles. The composite slurry can then be diluted, flocculated and dewatered. Superabsorbent polymer (SAP) is mixed in with the dewatered composite slurry in an amount effective to produce a somewhat friable, semi-solid conveyable composition of sufficient strength to enable transport, stacking and support of restored overburden at a mining site.

A conveyor apparatus (5) is provided that includes a frame (10) and a cross conveyor (9). The cross conveyor (9) has a moveable belt sized and configured to receive and move material. The cross conveyor (9) is supported by the frame (10). The frame (10) has a base and a plurality of rotatable members (15) attached to the base. The rotatable members (15) are configured to rotate to move the frame (10). The frame (10) is sized and configured to be positionable adjacent to a mobile bridge (3) conveyor having a tripper conveyor device (7) such that a portion of the cross conveyor (9) is positionable under an upper end portion of the tripper conveyor device (7) to receive material from the tripper conveyor device (7) and move the material to a storage area or stacking area for stacking the material. The tripper is preferably constrained to the frame (8) of the mobile bridge conveyor (3).

A description is given of a method for manufacturing cement by which method cement raw materials, such as limestone and clay, are comminuted in a comminution apparatus (1) for subsequently being heated and burned into cement clinker which is subsequently cooled and then directed to a comminution apparatus (1) for comminution to cement. The method is characterized in that said cement raw materials and said cement clinker alternately undergo comminution in one and the same comminution apparatus (1).

According to the invention, the loose coal is displaced from the peaks to the valleys of the waves on the narrow, long coal cake and is beaten down on the coal cake. The inventive device comprises at least one scraper (12) and at least one vertically movable impact plate (13) that are disposed one behind another and are fitted with a connection (7) to a holder. Furthermore, means are provided for generating a relative movement between the scraper (12) and the impact plate (13) and between the scraper (12) and a stamping form. The scraper (12) and the impact plate (13) are interconnected by means of a device frame (14) so as to form a structural unit (6) that is connected to the holder. Preferably, the structural unit (6) can be moved along the stamping form and is equipped with a drive unit. For this purpose, the holder encompasses a guide that extends along the stamping form as well as a carriage or a car which can be slid or moved on said guide and to which the unit (6) is connected with the aid of a boom.

A method of and apparatus for treating a green liquor stream produced in a kraft pulp process to separate green liquor from dregs present in the stream by utilizing a filtration vessel that has a pressure differential between the green liquor inlet and outlet to drive the dregs from the green liquor. In addition, negative pressure is utilized in the filtration vessel to thereby drive water vapor from and consequently cool the filtered green liquor.
