Abstract:
A data transfer network is provided which comprises a TFTP server connected to transfer data to a series of client apparatus connected to the network. When data is to be transferred, one of the clients is designated the master client and the speed of requests for data from the master client determines the rate of transfer of the data to all of the clients. The rate of transfer of data to each client, when elected as the master client, is monitored and compared with predetermined transfer rates. If from the comparison it is identified that the transfer rates is longer than that which is required, the TFTP server elects another client which is available as master client. In the event that one of the clients is disabled and cannot act as a master client to receive data, this is identified by the TFTP server by monitoring network management messages which identify the disablement or unavailability of the client. If a client is identified as being unavailable or disabled, the TFTP server does not attempt to elect the client as master client.
Abstract:
The invention relates to the provision of a cooling effect on components (6) of electrical apparatus which are mounted on an upper surface (8) of a printed circuit board (4) within a housing (2). The invention provides for the mounting of a material layer (12) which can absorb or otherwise dissipate heat and the invention allows the mounting of the said material (12) beneath the printed circuit board (4) within the housing (2) in position to provide improved cooling effect without contacting the components (6) themselves.
Abstract:
This application relates to the ability to receive data, typically transmitted from a remote location by a broadcaster in a digital encoded format. Typically the data can be provided in an encrypted format for security purposes. In order to allow the data which is to be held in a memory to be processed, but still be secure, the method and system allows for the addition of location identifiers for the material in the memory. Thus, in one embodiment, the received encrypted material is first descrambled or decrypted and parsed to allow the generation of location identifiers for portions of the material. Once parsed, the location identifiers are stored in a database in the receiver and the material is again encrypted locally at the receiver prior to storage in the memory. Typically these steps are performed as one process, thereby preventing unauthorised access to the material when it is in a descrambled or decrypted form.
Abstract:
Electronic apparatus is provided including a housing with one or more electronic devices which act as heat sources and a fan provided therein. The fan is arranged to draw air from outside of the housing via one or more inlets such that said air passes over at least one of said electronic devices prior to exiting said housing via one or more outlets. The housing has multiple sides and an inlet is provided on two or more of said sides.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a connected network of broadcast data receivers of the type provided to receive data which is transmitted from a remote location and then process the data to generate video, audio and/or auxiliary information. The network connection in accordance with the invention allows at least one of the receivers to provide information relating to the usage of at least one of the further broadcast data receivers on the network. This allows the user of the first receiver to, for example, monitor the usage of another of the receivers and, if necessary take steps to control said usage depending on the material being generated, the time of usage or other selected parameters.
