Abstract:
A tolerance ring can include a generally cylindrical body that can include a sidewall that defines a top and a bottom. The sidewall can include an upper unformed band and a lower unformed band opposite the upper unformed band. A plurality of shoulderless wave structures can protrude radially from the sidewall between the upper unformed band and the lower unformed band. Each shoulderless wave structure can be connected only to the upper unformed band and the lower unformed band. The sidewall of the tolerance ring can also include a plurality of unformed sections and a gap that extends along the entire axial length of the body. Each unformed section can be located between a pair of adjacent shoulderless wave structures. Moreover, the gap can establish a split in the body.
Abstract:
An acoustic damping article includes a substrate, wherein the substrate has a surface area S. The acoustic composition further includes a polymer resin. The polymer resin coats partially the surface area with a set of areas. The ratio of the coated areas over the surface area S is less than 1 and the polymer resin coverage is not greater than about 500 g/m2.
Abstract:
A method of preparing a window module includes providing a metal frame having a first major surface, applying a structural glazing tape to the first major surface of the metal frame, and positioning a glass panel overtop the structural glazing tape. The structural glazing tape includes a polymer foam tape having first and second major surfaces, an adhesive layer overlying the first major surface for bonding the structural glazing tape to the structural frame, and a release layer overlying the second major surface. The method further includes filling a channel defined by the glass panel, the metal frame, and the structural glazing tape with a curable sealant, and curing the sealant to bond the glass panel and the metal frame together.
Abstract:
A glove includes an inner layer having the 3-dimensional shape of a hand and including a fibrous absorbent material, and the glove includes a fluoropolymer barrier layer thermoformed around the inner layer to have the 3-dimensional shape of the hand. The fluoropolymer barrier layer maintains the 3-dimensional shape when not in use. The glove has a breakthrough time of not greater than 1 hour when exposed to NFPA 1991 industrial chemicals and has a detectable permeation rate is not more than 0.10 micrograms/cm2/min.
Abstract:
A composition includes a blend of (a) a multi-block copolymer including at least one block of an elastomeric polymer and at least one block of a first polymer including a chiral polymer having a stereo isomeric configuration; and (b) a second polymer including an anti- chiral polymer corresponding to the chiral polymer in (a), wherein the second polymer includes an opposite handed stereo isomeric configuration to the chiral polymer in (a); wherein the blend of the chiral polymer and the anti-chiral polymer form stereo complex sites. A flexible tubing material further includes the blend. In an embodiment, a method of making the blend material is also provided.
Abstract:
A sealing assembly includes a component, a polyvinyl chloride foam gasket, a double sided acrylic tape, and a butyl tape. The component has a wall, an interior space defined by the wall, and an opening extending through the wall into the interior space. The wall has a rib extending therefrom and surrounding the opening. The gasket has a base, two sides, first and second ends, a length, and a groove formed therein and defined by the two sides and the base of the gasket. The groove extends along the length of the gasket. The gasket is positioned along the rib such that the rib extends into the groove, the gasket extends around the opening and the first and second ends of the gasket abut.
Abstract:
A multilayer construction includes a barrier layer having first and second major surfaces and including a polyimide material, a first outer layer directly bonded to and in direct contact with the first major surface of the barrier layer, and a second outer layer directly bonded to an in direct contact with the second major surface of the barrier layer. The first and second outer layer including a thermoplastic polymer. The first and second outer layers form first and second opposite outer surfaces of the multilayer construction. The construct is prepared using extreme heat lamination.

Abstract:
A method includes casting a friction reducing layer on a carrier, and casting an adhesive layer overlying the friction reducing layer to form a multilayer cast film. The method further includes laminating the multilayer cast film to the load bearing substrate with the load bearing substrate to form a composite and shaping the composite. The load bearing substrate is closer to the adhesive layer than to the friction reducing layer.
Abstract:
A multilayer construct includes a fluoropolymer first layer; a UV resistant fluoropolymer adhesive layer, and a third layer, wherein the fluoropolymer adhesive layer is between the first and third layers. The adhesive layer can optionally include an ultraviolet radiation absorber.
