Abstract:
In a sem for e.g. papermachine clothing, interdigitating seaming loops (13, 14) embrace deformable yarns (17) inserted between the last cross-machine direction yarns (15a) and the opposed seaming loops (14, 13). Alternatively, an insert may be in the form of a ladder-like member (30) comprising one or more cross-machine direction members (31, 32, 33) and a multiplicity of machine direction members (34) extending beyond the members (31, 32, 33) to locate the seaming loops. Also possible is the use of a strip or tape of foamed or foamable material.
Abstract:
A dewatering process in which a product comprising water and other materials is simultaneously subjected to compressive mechanical forces and electro-osmosis using a belt (12) comprising, at least in part, electrically conductive material.
Abstract:
A Jacquard mechanism for creating a shed in a loom, comprises the following elements:- a plurality of hooks operative to be connected, optionally via one or more other bodies, to yarns in a loom, the hooks being movable between a first position and a second position; a griffe, the griffe being movable along a path so as to engage the hooks wherein the hooks are in the first position, a plurality of solenoids each solenoid having a plunger operative to directly engage a hook. Movement of the plunger causes an associated hook to move to the second position wherein it will not be engaged by the griffe as it moves along the said path.
Abstract:
The edge 17 of a filter cloth 18 is received in a slot 14 formed in an edge 13 of a planar part 12 of an edge strip 10, extending parallel to and preferably lying in the axis of the plane of said planar part 12. The edge strip also comprises a track portion 11 defining its outer edge and formed integrally with the planar part 12. The slot 14 may be formed by use of a hot air knife or by a metal blade and defines upper and lower flaps 15,16 which are adhered to the edge 17 of the cloth.
Abstract:
A papermakers fabric (10) is woven from machine direction yarns (11, 19, 20) and one or more layers of cross machine direction yarns (12-18). The cross machine direction yarns (12-18) in at least one of the layers comprise relatively large (12, 13, 16, 17) and small (14, 15, 18) yarns. The machine and cross machine direction yarns (11, 19, 20) are arranged such that the machine direction yarns (11, 19, 20) define outer floats or knuckles at the surfaces of the fabric and inner floats or knuckles in the body of the fabric around small cross machine direction yarns (14, 15, 18) provided in one of the cross machine direction yarn layers. The parts of the machine direction yarns provided at one surface defining the inner floats or knuckles do not extend to the plane of the obverse surface of the fabric.
Abstract:
A temporary seaming aid for use in seaming a dryer fabric, comprising complementary parts (39) attached to two portions (31, 32) of a dryer fabric. The complementary parts are adapted for cooperation and enable the fabric ends which have interdigitating formations (33) thereon to engage. Engagement of the interdigitating formations allow a pintle wire (34) to be inserted therein to form a flexible joint resulting in seaming of the dryer fabric. The entire temporary seaming aid can easily be removed once the fabric ends are joined.
Abstract:
A dual purpose transfer printing and laminating blanket (18) comprises an endless woven base fabric (28) having at least one layer of fluoropolymer coating material (32, 33) applied thereto.
Abstract:
A mailing envelope or carton having a closure flap (18) disposed adjacent the opening of said envelope wherein a combination sealing and opening tape (26) is disposed on the closure flap (18). Said sealing and opening tape (26) comprises a mono-oriented film having a layer of pressure-sensitive adhesive on each side thereof and a release liner covering the outer layer.
Abstract:
A method of making a shoe press belt comprises the step of feeding a base cloth (13) over a rotating drum (11) and applying a polymer coating to the base cloth (13), as the base cloth (13) is fed over the rotating drum (11). The polymer coating is impregnated with a fused silica or aramid thixotrope.
