    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title composition having an oxygen index in a specified range, lowly smoking and excellent in flame retardancy and mechanical properties by mixing a rubber component with a specified amount of a mixture of red phosphorus with polyacrylonitrile. CONSTITUTION:A rubber component (A) such as a natural rubber or a polybutadiene rubber is mixed with at most 30wt.% flame retardant (B) comprising red phosphorus and polyacrylonitrile to produce the title composition of an oxygen index of 19.8-27.5. A suitable example of the mixing ratio of component B is such that 1-20wt.% red phosphorus and 2-25wt.% polyacrylonitrile are present based on the rubber composition. Additives such as a reinforcement (e.g. carbon black), a filler, a softener and a vulcanizer may be further added to the above composition. This composition can give a tire having effective flame retardancy and fireproofness without detriment to the other properties.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title composition having effective flame retardancy without substantially impairing the inherent properties of rubber, lowly smoking when compared with a rubber composition containing a halogen-base flame retardant and being very useful in the fields requiring severe fireproofness, such as industrial products and tires. CONSTITUTION:The title composition wherein the oxygen index is 19.8-27.5, the flame retardant is red phosphorus, the flame retardant aid is a polymer partially replaced with a nitrile-containing elastomer, and the amount of the flame retardant used is 24wt.% or below.

CONSTITUTION:The title composition has an oxygen index of 19.8-27.5, and a total amount of the flame retardant used of 30wt.% or below based on the composition. The flame retardant is a combination of a halohydrocarbon with a metal oxide and a metal hydroxide, and the halohydrocarbon contains at least two kinds of halogen element, specifically 20-80wt.% bromine.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To realize a reversibly expandable/contractable macromolecular liquid crystal for actuator device by employing macromolecular liquid crystal or liquid crystal elastomer as main component material. CONSTITUTION:The liquid crystal actuator takes out mechanical energy based on stimulus of application/removal of voltage, where macromolecular liquid crystal such as side chain type macromolecular liquid crystal or its elastomerized liquid crystal is employed as component material. In order to elastomerize the macromolecular liquid crystal, following requirements must be satisfied. It must have high macromolecular weight, bridge formation must be employed, glass transition temperature must be lower than room temperature, it must not have any crystal structure. Such liquid crystal actuator is quite useful as a high performance actuator device and the macromolecular structure can be controlled easily.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a small-sized, high(large)-output actuator device of simple system constitution which has extremely excellent fast response by using high molecule liquid crystal where mechanical energy is led out reversibly with an electric field and/or liquid crystal elastomer as a principal material for an output medium. CONSTITUTION:The liquid crystal actuator device 10 is provided while liquid crystal actuators 2A - 2D are sandwiched by five electrode plates 1A - 1E, and the laminate structure of them is covered with an elastic insulating cover 3 on the whole. The liquid crystal actuators 2A - 2D vary reversibly in elastic modulus principally in the laminating direction (vertically in figure) by applying and removing a voltage. Consequently, the high(large)-output liquid crystal actuator device of small-sized, simple constitution which have fast response is obtained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the breakage of a road surface when the road surface is not in frozen state, by forming a layer made of the polymer or the rubber composition having a glass transition temperature in a specific range at the basic edge part of a spike and covering at least the side surface of the layer by the rubber elastic body having a compression permanent strain in a specific value. CONSTITUTION:A spike tire is formed by burying a number of shanks (spike) 1 having a flange 2 at the basic edge part into a tread part 6, and a tip 3 is installed at the top edge part of the shank 1. In this case, a rubber elastic body 4 in container form into which polymer or a rubber composition 5 is charged is installed on the basic edge side of the shank 1, namely on the edge surface on the side where the flange 2 is installed. The polymer or the rubber composition 5 having a glass transition temperature of -20-0 deg.C is used, and the rubber elastic body 4 having a compression permanent strain of 20% or less is used. Therefore, when a road surface is not in frozen state, the shank 1 can prevented effectively.
