Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a material for colored tires which comprises a cross-linking and colorable rubber composition containing an ionically cross-linking agent and a covalently corss-linking agent which forms free radicals, thus the product exhibits improved abration resistance, color and color stability. CONSTITUTION:(A) An ionically cross-linkable and covalently cross-linkable rubber, for example, hydrogenated styrene-butadiene rubber or the like is combined with (B) 10 to 90 wt.% of an ionically cross-linking agent such as a metal salt of carboxylic acid and (C) 10 to 90 wt.% of a free radical-forming covelently cross-linking agent such as a peroxide cross-linking agent.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a cost effect, by a method wherein a laminated cylinder is formed by performing lamination of a wall and a white rubber compound layer which are molded by compounding and calender-processing, the laminated cylinder is cut into a plurality of belts and the individual belt is transferred to a tire curing press. CONSTITUTION:A layer of a white side wall and wall rubber compound is formed by sending them to calenders 216, 218 from mixers 212, 214. The layer from the calenders 216, 218 is laminated by a laminating machine 220, to which a backing material taken out of a spool or a roll 222 is stuck. This laminated plate is wound around a keeping roll 224 and maintained until a manufacturing process becomes necessary. Under such a circumstance, in the laminated plate, backing paper is removed by a stripping roller 226, cut into belts having fixed dimensions and maintained by a belt forming roll 230. Then a belt sent to a keeping cylinder 232 is redirectioned to the normal position with a tire by a white side wall forming and stationary metal fittings 234, taken out by a transfer device 236 and arranged to the tire curing press device 238.

CONSTITUTION:The objective reinforcing agent composed of an anhydrous metal salt of an alpha,beta-ethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid having plate or fibrous crystal structure is produced by reacting (A) an organic metal compound selected from the compounds of zinc, iron(II), copper(II) or alkaline-earth metal with (B) a 3-30C alpha,beta-ethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid in (C) an organic hydrocarbon solvent such as hexane under vigorous agitation, removing the solvent from the reaction mixture and recovering the above component A.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a process for uniformly mixing an alpha,beta-ethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid metal salt to a rubbery polymer. CONSTITUTION:A polymer cement is produced in an organic solvent. Separately, a suspension of an alpha,beta-ethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid metal salt is produced in an aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent compatible with the organic solvent. The polymer cement is mixed with the suspension and the solvent is removed from the mixture to obtain the metal salt uniformly dispersed in the polymer.
