    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a composition providing a film having a surface hardly injured, showing excellent scratching resistance and wear resistance by blending an aromatic polyester with a fluorine compound and inert particles having specific particle diameters, respectively. CONSTITUTION:The composition comprises (A) 0.01-2 pts.wt. of fluorine compound (preferably calcium fluoride) having 0.002-0.2mum average diameter of primary particles, (B) 0.01-5 pts.wt. of inert particles having 0.2-1mum average diameter of primary particles and (C) 99.98-93 pts.wt. of an aromatic polyester (preferably polyethylene terephthalate). The component B is preferably titanium oxide in the case of inorganic particles and preferably a divinylbenzene homopolymer in the case of organic particles. The component A and the inert inorganic particles are added to the polyester reaction system by a method of supplying them in a state of a glycol slurry and the inert organic particles are incorporated with the polyester in a shape of a slurry using water, etc.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a resin composition useful for obtaining a film excellent in scratch and abrasion resistances by mixing a thermoplastic polyester with a specified calcium carbonate and phosphorus and specifying the terminal carboxyl concentration. CONSTITUTION:This resin composition is prepared by mixing a thermoplastic polyester (e.g. polyethylene terephthalate) with 0.05-10wt.% vateritic calcium carbonate surfacetreated with a polycarboxylic acid compound (e.g. sodium polyacrylate) and having a mean particle diameter of 0.01-5mum and 40-250ppm of phosphorus (for example, one added in the form of trimethyl phosphate) and has a terminal carboxyl concentration in the range of 10-100 equivalents per 10 g of the polymer.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject polymer having excellent abrasion resistance, transportability and surface properties and suitable for base film of magnetic recording medium, film for electrical use, fiber, etc., by adding specific inert inorganic particles before polymerization. CONSTITUTION:(A) A dispersion is produced by dispersing (i) inert inorganic particles (e.g. aluminum oxide) exhibiting positive zeta-electric potential in pure water and having an average particle diameter of 10-3,000mmu and (ii) a glycol compound used as a raw material (e.g. ethylene glycol) in (iii) a polymeric compound having parameters expressed by formula (delta1 is solubility parameter of the polymeric compound; delta2 is solubility parameter of the polyester) and having acidic functional group on terminal and/or side chain. The objective polymer having a carboxyl terminal group content of >=20eq/t can be produced by polymerizing (B) an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and glycol after the addition of 0.01-5.0 pts.wt. of the dispersion A to the system based on 100 pts.wt. of the component B.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyester composition giving a molded article having excellent slipperiness, abrasion resistance, etc., and suitable for fiber, film, etc., by using composite inert particles having a specific shape as a component. CONSTITUTION:The objective polyester composition is produced by compounding a polyester with 0.005-10wt.% (preferably 0.01-3wt.%) of composite inert particles having an average particle diameter of 0.05-5mum (preferably 0.1-2mum) and produced e.g. by coating a core particle charged with positive or negative charge (e.g. silica, titanium oxide or calcium carbonate) with fine particles (e.g. silica or alumina) charged with opposite charge and having an average particle diameter corresponding to 1/(1,000-10) [preferably 1/(500-20)] of the diameter of the core particle. The ratio of the coating thickness to the diameter of the core particle is 1/1000-10, preferably 1/500-1.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a composition which can give a film or a fiber excellent in lubricity and abrasion resistance, by dispersing cerium oxide particles in a thermoplastic polyester. CONSTITUTION:A thermoplastic polyester composition is formed by homogeneously and finely dispersing cerium oxide particles in a thermoplastic polyester. Although the cerium oxide particles used may be particles of cerium (III) oxide (Ce2O3) or cerium (IV) oxide (CeO2), CeO2 particles are more desirable. The mean particle diameter of the cerium oxide particles used is desirably 0.1-3.0Xm when it is used in a film or a fiber. When this diameter is below 0.01mum, the lubricity of a molding is not sufficient, while a diameter above 5mum is undesirable because large protrusions are formed on the molding. The content of the cerium oxide is desirably 0.01-5wt.% based on the polyester.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title composition capable of giving formed products of excellent slipperiness and wear resistance including biaxially oriented films suitable for e.g., magnetic tapes, by incorporating a polyester with each specified amount of each specific silicone resin particles and inert inorganic particles.
