    Abstract: A therapy apparatus to restore range of motion to joints and limbs. The apparatus is useful for elbow joints and includes a beam on which the elbow joint rests. A tension cord extends through and beyond the length of the elongated hollow beam with a handle at the distal end of the tension cord to be grasped by the user. The proximal end of the cord is pulled by the user's other hand to rotate the elbow. A ratchet clamp forming a part of the beam retains the tension on the elbow. Since it is a ratchet clamp, the cord may be freely pulled in the proximal direction to impart more tension to the elbow, but to release the tension, the ratchet clamp must be disengaged manually. The beam has segments that are telescopically extendable and retractable to accommodate limbs of different lengths and for portability and storage.

    Abstract: According to one embodiment, a rehabilitative training device for use with a stroke patient includes a first component that is operatively coupled to a first body part (unaffected body part) of the patient and a second component that is operatively coupled to a second body part (affected body part) of the patient. The first component and second component are operatively coupled to one another such that motion of the first component as a result of movement of the first body part by the user causes the second component and second body part to move in a symmetrical motion.

    Abstract: One embodiment of a multi-functional device for measuring joint range of motion of the wrist and forearm. In general, the embodiment includes a casing (20) containing fluid (23), and a plural number of calibration scale (24) assemblies. The casing (20) is sized appropriately to be gripped in a user's hand, and enables the user to obtain an assessment of his or her range of motion as various motions are performed. Specifically, the various motions made by the user while gripping the embodiment causes fluid (23) to shift inside of casing (20) as a reaction to the downward pull of gravity. The user obtains an instant visual measurement of joint range of motion by viewing the location of fluid (23) on the calibration scale (24) assemblies. The overall design empowers the user to measure his or her own range of motion, which engages him or her as he or she works to re-gain mobility, and provides a positive motivating influence. The device is also suitable for use when performing exercises and stretches. The device is intuitive, portable, and requires no medical training to use. Other embodiments are described and shown.

    Abstract: In one embodiment, a shoulder exercise and stretching apparatus includes a forearm support, a forearm securing means for securing a user's forearm to the forearm support, an elbow support to capture the elbow of a user and keep the user's arm in a desired position to isolate the user's shoulder as a pivot point for rotation, and a rotation member coupled to the forearm support to rotate the forearm support through a desired plane and thereby provide an angular force to a target shoulder of the user. One or more handles, may be provided for grasping by a user's free hand to assist in the movement of the rotation member. Measurement means may be provided for determining the rotation of the apparatus. Resistance means may be provided to provide for resistance exercises of the shoulder.
