PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a sensor chip from being broken, even if only one sensor chip is used. SOLUTION: A sensor chip is provided with a group of photoelectric transfer elements for converting light signals from a medium to be read to electrical signals and reads out the electrical signals, which are converted by the photoelectric transfer elements or signals according to these signals. Abstract:
An optical component structure includes an elongate optical component, a support member to which the optical component is fixed, and an adhesive for bonding the optical component to the support member. The optical component is provided with a contacting portion and a bonding portion different in position from the contacting portion. The contacting portion is brought into direct contact with the support member in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the optical component. The adhesive is applied to the bonding portion, but not to the contacting portion. Examples of the optical component include a linear light source unit and a lens unit used in an image sensor module.

A contact-type image sensor (20) comprises a case (21), a glass cover (22) provided on an upper surface of the case (21), a bottom substrate (23) mounted in a bottom surface of the case (21), light receiving elements (24) mounted on the bottom substrate, light emitting elements (25) for irradiating an object (D) on the glass cover (22) with light, and a rod lens array (27) for collecting the light reflected by the object (D) on the glass cover (22) onto the light receiving elements (24). The light emitting elements (25) are mounted on the bottom substrate (23). The contact-type image sensor further comprises a light guide (26) provided in the case (21) for efficiently directing the light from the light emitting elements (25) to a predetermined region (L) of the glass cover (22). The case (21) is formed with a holding groove (29) for receiving the rod lenses array (27) from above, and the light guide (26) has ends each formed with a tab (37) for pressing the rod lens array (26) from above.

A contact image sensor unit includes: a light source (10) illuminating an original; a rod-like light guide (11) guiding light from the light source to the original; an imaging element (12) forming reflected light from the original on a plurality of photoelectric conversion elements; a sensor substrate (14) on which the plurality of photoelectric conversion elements are mounted; a frame (15) to which they are attached and which has a positioning part (200) for attaching the light guide (11) thereto; and a supporting member (16) which attachably/detachably supports the light guide (11) and is attachably/detachably attached to the positioning part (200). Since the light guide (11) can be attached to the frame (15) without using an adhesive, the deformation of the light guide (11), the warpage of the contact image sensor unit and so on can be prevented.

An image sensor module includes a light source unit that emits a linear light beam elongate in a primary scanning direction to an object to be read, and a lens unit including an incidence surface and an output surface oriented opposite to each other. The lens unit is configured to receive light from the object through the incidence surface and output the light through the output surface. The module also includes a sensor IC that receives the light outputted from the output surface, a housing that holds the light source unit and the lens unit, and a support member that supports the lens unit such that the incidence surface is located more distant from the sensor IC than the output surface in a secondary scanning direction. The support member includes a reflection surface that reflects the light from the object toward the incidence surface.

An illuminating apparatus includes a columnar light guide, a board having a light source fastened on one surface thereof, and a holder. The holder is formed with a through-hole into which an end of the light guide in the columnar center axis direction is fitted to hold the light guide, and a catch that catches and holds the board with the light source facing the end surface of the light guide in the columnar center axis direction in the through-hole.
