Abstract:
A handy, low cost, tamper-evident evidence recording device is disclosed. A method and system for utilizing evidence recording devices in improving various business processes such as insurance claims processing, car and equipment rentals, and property leases disputes, is disclosed.
Abstract:
Methods for adapting the operation of a system in response to the detection of embedded watermarks from a digital host content are provided. A digital host content is received and examined for the presence of watermarks. In response to the detection of embedded watermarks and in accordance with the value, type, density or spacing of the detected watermarks, one or more system reactions may take place. These reactions include conditionally allowing the system to resume its normal operation, prohibiting the system from resuming its normal operation, degrading the quality of the digital host content or changing the security status of the digital host content. In response to the extraction of weak watermarks that do not meet the desired system requirements, the extraction operation may be modified or extended to enable the detection of strong watermarks.

Abstract:
PURPOSE: A network-based remote forensic system is provided to easily use evidence data with the accumulation of collected evidence data. CONSTITUTION: One or more remote terminals(240) interlink an evidence device(110) in a remote place. The remote terminal performs forensic for the evidence device with a virtual forensic tool. An investigation center system(200) is connected through a wide area network to the remote terminal. The investigation center system offers the virtual forensic tool. The investigation center system processes the requirement of the remote terminal.
Abstract:
An image processing apparatus, an image forming apparatus, an image processing method, and a program are provided to effectively detect information embedded in a printed copy even though the printed copy is magnified or reduced. A pattern detecting unit(570) detects a plurality of patterns included in a read image. A magnification determining unit(580) determines a magnification based on a positional relation between adjacent patterns out of the plurality of patterns detected by the pattern detecting unit(570). An information detecting unit detects information from the read image based on the magnification determined by the magnification determining unit(580).
Abstract:
PURPOSE: A print system and method are provided to identify a printing device on which a medium was printed by using encoded forensic markings which identify the device but are of low perceptibility to the human eye are superimposed on the printed image. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises steps of encoding system information identifying a printer into an information marker(S102), calculating a checksum for the information marker(S104), encoding the checksum into a checksum marker(S106), adding to each forensic marking at least one location marker indicative of a location of the forensic marking on the print medium(S108), adding to each forensic marking at least one camouflage marker indicative of randomized data such that the visibility of the forensic marking due to replication on the print medium is reduced(S118), rotating some of the individual one of the one forensic marking by a multiple of 90 degrees prior to the printing(S120), superimposing onto source data at least one encoded forensic marking containing the information marker and the checksum marker in order to create output data corresponding to the forensically marked image(S122), and printing the output data on a print medium in order to produce the forensically marked image, the forensic marking printed using a predetermined color difficult to detect by the human eye, but readily detectable by electronic scanning in order to identify the system(S124).
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method and system for embedding in a digital media file user fingerprint which the user cannot detect when using the digital media file. In the method, a user-detectable watermark is first embedded in the digital media file. This watermark can be transformed in a client device to a non-detectable fingerprint of the user by utilizing digital media file-specific information issued by a digital media rights owner when the user has bought a user license. Afterwards the digital media rights owner can read the embedded user fingerprint from the digital media file if it is illegally distributed between other users.
