    Abstract: The invention concerns a barking tool for barking machines of the type having a plurality of swinging arms, each being at an inner end pivotally mounted on an annular rotator which is rotatable about an axis of rotation, and each having at a free outer end a processing edge. The processing edge is defined between a front and a top surface, which is adapted, during barking, to make an acute angle with the circumferential surface of the log. The barking tool further has a bead, which is located on the top surface in an area adjacent to the end of the processing edge furthest down in the feeding direction. The bead is essentially arcuate in such a manner that its height above the top surface successively increases from an area adjacent to the processing edge perpendicularly backwards therefrom and, more specifically, the height is adapted such that the bead during normal barking is positioned between a certain minimum and a certain maximum, and preferably essentially uniform, distance from the barked circumferential surface of the log independently of its diameter.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a fastening device for fastening barking tools to barking machines of the rotation ring type and of the type in which the barking tool comprises a swivel arm 2 which is detachably connected to a shaft 3 rotatably mounted in the rotor of the machine, more precisely by a fixture part 4 expediently constructed in one piece with the shaft.     Abstract: A log debarking machine including a rotor having a central opening and a plurality of debarking tools, a rotating means for rotating said rotor about its longitudinal axis, and a feeding means including a plurality of log gripping rollers positioned for rolling contact with the logs and for feeding logs in the direction of the longitudinal axis. The log gripping rollers are supported for movement toward and away from the longitudinal axis of the rotor, and apparatus is provided for biasing the rollers toward the longitudinal axis of the rotor. The apparatus for biasing applies a reduced force on the rollers when the rollers are between a first closed position adjacent the longitudinal axis and a first outward position and an increased force on the rollers when the rollers are positioned between a first outward position and an open position.
