Abstract: The invention concerns a barking tool (1) for barking machines of the type having a plurality of swinging arms (13), each being at an inner end (14) pivotally mounted on an annular rotator which is rotatable about an axis of rotation, and each having at a free outer end a processing edge (1). The processing edge is defined between a front (4) and a top surface (2), which is adapted, during barking, to make an acute angle with the circumferential surface of the log (15). The barking tool further has a bead (12), which is located on the top surface in an area adjacent to the end of the processing edge furthest down in the feeding direction. The bead (12) is essentially arcuate in such a manner that its height above the top surface (2) successively increases from an area adjacent to the processing edge (8) perpendicularly backwards therefrom and, more specifically, the height is adapted such that the bead during normal barking is positioned between a certain minimum and a certain maximum, and preferably essentially uniform, distance from the barked circumferential surface of the log (15) independently of its diameter.

Abstract: The barking device includes a barking arm and a barking tool which is mounted in a tool seat of the barking arm. The barking tool has a convex mounting surface, while the seat surface of the barking arm is concave. The barking tool is movably mounted in the tool seat and displaceable by rotating displacement. It is connected to the tool seat by a screw and a sleeve-like nut. The head of one of the screw or nut is designed to prevent displacement and rotation of the barking tool.
