    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a pumping system for injecting a pumping power as high as possible into a monomode waveguide while overcoming restraints imposed according to the radiation flux preservation rule. CONSTITUTION: Pumping light 15 injected from a plurality of pumping radiation sources 5a, 5b,..., 5m and 5n having wavelength λ2 into a monomode active region 11 surrounded by claddings 12, 13 through a dichroic component (half mirror) 6. A signal light of wavelength λ1 from a signal source 4 entering into the monomode active region 11 through the half mirror 6 is amplified effectively by intensive pumping lights from a conventional light source 5 and the plurality of pumping radiation sources 5a, 5b,..., 5m and 5n entering into the active region 11.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a spectroscopy method and device which give high measurement sense without relying on an expensive optical equipment. CONSTITUTION: A beam of sample light from a light source 1 is combined with a beam of light from a reference light source 20 by a mirror 21, and then combined in an optical fiber 2 by a lens 3. Each light source generates an optical pulse of pre-determined duration time by direct modulation with a control device 4 or modulation with a modulator 22. The light from the fiber is sent to a detector 6, and with the electric signal from the detector 6, time difference between a reference pulse from the light source 20 and a pulse from the light source 1, and a duration time of the pulse from the light source 1 are measured by a time analysis means 7.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a coaxial waveguide phase shifter small in size and capable of being designed through the accurate synthesis of a uniform electric network by constituting the phase shifter of hollow external and internal cylindrical conductors and inserting the prescribed number of number of mutually parallel irises between both conductors. CONSTITUTION: The phase shifter is provided with the hollow external and internal cylindrical conductors CE, CI and the prescribed number N of irises I are inserted between both conductors EC, CI and fixed on the external guide. Each of irises is constituted of two opposite plates and has circular segment shapes whose straight sides are parallel with each other. The electric characteristics of the phase shifter depend upon the W/D, D/d, T, Li, and N of each iris. A uniform four-pole conductor in a cell constituted of each iris is obtained by the reactance of the iris itself and a phase shift curve to be led by the cell in accordance with the W/D and T of the iris can be prepared. Consequently the phase shifter can be used for automatic design.
