Abstract: A low-pressure mercury-vapor discharge lamp has a discharge vessel with a filling of mercury and an inert gas. Electrodes in the discharge space have electrode shields, which operate at temperatures above 450° C. An inner surface of the electrode shield may have a heat-absorbing coating, for example a carbon film. The electrode shield may be supported by a support wire, at least a part of which is made from stainless steel. A lamp according to the invention has comparatively low mercury consumption.

Abstract: The invention relates to a parallel MR imaging method in which first a first MR imaging sequence is formed with a selectable minimum number of phase encoding steps and at least two separate MR signal data sets are acquired by means of at least two MR receiving coils. A first MR image is reconstructed from this data while taking into account the spatial sensitivity profiles of the MR receiving coils. In order to improve parallel MR imaging methods of this kind, the invention proposes to evaluate the quality of the reconstructed MR image in a subsequent step of the method and, in dependence upon the result of the evaluation, to either terminate the imaging method or to form a further MR imaging sequence with a number of further phase encoding steps. This procedure can be continued until an adequate MR image quality is reached.

Abstract: The receiver includes an HF tuner (1) and at least two surface acoustic wave filters (2,3) coupled to it. The HF tuner filters a supplied HF signal and converts it to an IF TV signal which is coupled on the surface acoustic wave filters. The HF tuner comprises at least two outputs (6,7) which provide the converted IF signal. Each output is respectively associated with a switch (8,9), and the associated output is switchable on a fixed reference voltage. A respectively first input (10,12) of both surface acoustic wave filters is coupled with a first output (6) of the HF tuner, and a respectively second input (11,13) of the filters with a second output (7) of the HF tuner. One of the outputs of the HF tuner and the corresponding input of the surface acoustic wave filters, is alternatively connected by the switch to the reference voltage, to respectively control filter characteristics of the TV receiver.
