Abstract:
A fluidic modulator in accordance to an aspect includes a body forming a flow aperture between an inlet and an outlet, the flow aperture providing a constriction to a fluid flowing axially from the inlet to the outlet, and a moveable element having a shaft portion disposed through the body and a tip end selectively positionable in the flow aperture to alter the flow aperture.
Abstract:
A fluidic modulator having a body forming a flow aperture between an inlet and an outlet, the flow aperture having a nominal diameter less than the inlet diameter and the outlet diameter whereby the flow aperture provides a constriction to a fluid flowing axially from the inlet to the outlet, and a moveable portion operable to alter the flow aperture. To create a modulated pressure pulse the moveable portion may be for example radially shifted in the flow aperture, rotated in the flow aperture, or the rotation of the moveable portion in the flow aperture may be controlled.

A method of treating a formation includes preparing an aqueous solution having HCl in an amount between greater than 15% and 45.7% by weight, inclusive. The prepared aqueous solution includes a fixing agent (FA) present in a molar ratio of FA:HCl between 0.15 and 2.5 inclusive, where the FA is urea and/or a urea derivative, and further includes water present in an amount sufficient to dissolve the HCl and the FA. The aqueous solution includes substantially no polysaccharides. The method further includes providing an oilfield treatment fluid including the aqueous solution to a high pressure pump operating the high pressure pump to treat a wellbore and/or the formation fluidly coupled to the wellbore.
Abstract:
A method for obtaining gain corrected triaxial electromagnetic propagation measurements with an offset correction includes deploying an electromagnetic logging tool in a subterranean borehole. The logging tool includes at least first and second axially spaced triaxial transmitters and at least first and second axially spaced triaxial receivers. A plurality of full tensor voltage measurements may be acquired and processed tensor term by tensor term to obtain a full tensor, gain corrected quantity. The processing may optionally include (i) removing a full tensor voltage offset from the acquired full tensor voltage measurements to obtain a corresponding plurality of offset corrected voltage tensors and (ii) processing the offset corrected voltage tensor term by tensor term to obtain the full tensor, gain and offset corrected quantity.
Abstract:
A method for correcting geomagnetic reference field includes measuring Earth magnetic field elements at least one known geodetic position. Earth magnetic field elements are measured at a position proximate the location. A disturbance function is determined from the Earth magnetic field measurements made at the at least one known geodetic position. A magnetic disturbance field measurement transfer function is estimated between the at the at least one known geodetic and proximate positions to estimate a disturbance function at the proximate position. The estimated magnetic disturbance function is used to correct geomagnetic reference field or measurements made at the location.
Abstract:
A composition comprising, and methods of producing a solid state dispersion comprising particles dispersed in a water soluble polymer. Treatment fluids comprising, and methods of using the solid state dispersion are also disclosed.
Abstract:
Wear sensors are provided on a drill bit or other rotary cutting tool which is for operation in a subterranean borehole and has a plurality of separate cutters protruding from a support structure towards the material to be cut by the tool. The electrically operated sensing means are located at or coupled to a sensing point within a protrusion from the support structure. This sensing point is located within a protrusion such that attrition of at least one cutter to a partially worn state brings the protrusion into abrasive contact with the material being cut and attrition of the protrusion then exposes the sensing point to the material which is being cut by the tool and thereby brings about a detectable change, which may include damage to the sensor at the sensing point, indicative of wear. The tool includes means to communicate data from the sensing means to the surface.
Abstract:
A cathode assembly is for use in a radiation generator and includes an ohmically heated cathode, and a support having formed therein a hole and a recess at least partially surrounding the hole. In addition, there is a mount coupled to the support. The mount includes a larger outer frame positioned within the recess, a smaller inner frame carrying the ohmically heated cathode and spaced apart from the larger outer frame, and a plurality of members coupling the smaller inner frame to the larger outer frame.
Abstract:
Oscillators that use resonator elements formed from langasite or one of its isomorphs are described herein. The resonator elements include crystal orientations that are stress and/or temperature compensated. The resonators vibrate at an oscillating frequency in a thickness-shear mode of vibration. The oscillating frequency can be used to derive temperature, derive pressure, and/or for frequency control applications.
Abstract:
A method for routing a fluid within a flowline of a downhole tool is provided. In one embodiment, the method includes moving a piston within a chamber of a downhole tool to push a fluid out of the chamber and into a flowline. The method also includes using a pump in the downhole tool and in fluid communication with the flowline to route the fluid within the downhole tool via the flowline while moving the piston within the chamber. Additional systems, devices, and methods are also disclosed.
