Abstract: Reactor (1) comprises: (1) a bundle of contact tubes (2) through which a reaction mixture passes; (2) an inlet annular line; (3) an outlet annular line (4); and (4) deviating plates. A heat exchange medium (3) passes through the space surrounding the tubes. The heat exchange medium stream (3a, 3b) removed from the reactor is uniformly divided into individual streams and fed into mixing zones for intensive mixing.

Abstract: Reactor (1) comprises several contact tubes (2) in parallel in the reactor inner chamber and welded to the reactor base. Caps are on both reactor ends to form a cap chamber. A fluid reaction medium is introduced into the tubes via one cap chamber, flows through the contact tubes and flows out through the other cap chamber. The contact tubes are in two or more contact tube regions (7) thermally separated from each other. An Independent claim is also included for a process for testing catalyst systems. Preferred Features: At least one contact tube with a sleeve (9) for receiving a thermocouple and filled with Al2O3 is in one or more contact regions and closed at both ends. A cover is provided for the contact tubes of one or more contact regions.

Abstract: The invention relates to a pump (1) comprising a pump feed tube (13) for transporting a heat exchange medium (6) for a reactor containing a bundle of catalyst tubes (2). The pump (1) has a housing (14) that surrounds the pump feed tube (13) and comprises an opening (15) in the lower part of the housin g (14), which allows the heat exchange medium (6) that is drawn from the lower section of the reactor by the pump (1) to flow into the housing (14). The medium flows upwards in the section lying between the internal wall of the housing (14) and the external wall of the pump feed tube (13), optionally ov er a heat exchanger (18) and into the interior of the pump feed tube (13) via a n opening (16) in the upper section of said pump feed tube (13). The medium th en flows through the pump feed tube from top to bottom, into the reactor via an opening (17) in the lower section of said tube (13) and into the upper secti on of the intermediate chamber between the catalyst tubes (2).

Abstract: A process for lengthening the service life of catalysts comprises using a charge of inert material in the contact tubes, the tubular base and between the base and gas inlet and outlet hood of the reactor. Independent claims are also included for: (a) a container for stabilizing an inert material against drifting; (b) a tubular reactor comprising a reactor casing, bases (11, 12), contact tubes (4), gas inlet and outlet hoods (1, 2), and inlet and outlet openings for process gas and heat carriers. The lower hood is connected to a hydraulic lowering device; and (c) a process for burning off deposits on the insert material comprising treating the deposits with an oxygen-containing gas containing 0.1-50 vol.% oxygen at 200-800 deg C and 0.01-5.0 MPa pressure.

Preferred Features: The reaction gas is led from above to below through the contacts tubes. The guiding tubes expose the contact tubes on their lower and upper ends over a length of 1/4 to 1/2 of the hydraulic diameter of the guiding tube.

Abstract: The invention proposes a reactor (1) having a contact tube bundle (2) through whose space surrounding the contact tubes a heat-exchange medium circuit is passed, with ring lines (3, 4) at both ends of the reactor with jacket apertures (5, 6) for the supply and discharge of a heat-exchange medium by means of a pump via an external heat exchanger, where the heat-exchange medium is fed to the lower ring line (4) and is discharged to the heat exchanger via the upper ring line (3), and with baffle plates (7) which leave a passage cross section alternately in the reactor center and at the reactor edge. The upper (3) and lower (4) ring lines are each divided into an inner (11, 13) and an outer (12, 14) ring line by a cylindrical partition wall (8, 9), and the heat-exchange medium is fed to the outer lower ring line (14), via a region outside the reactor to the inner upper ring line (11), via the jacket apertures (5) of the latter to the region surrounding the contact tubes (2), via the jacket apertures (6) to the inner lower ring line (13) and subsequently via a region outside the reactor to the outer upper ring line (12).
