    Abstract: Current state-of-the-art solutions for frame loss concealment typically suffer from quality impairments. Disclosed herein is a frame loss concealment method wherein a segment of a previously synthesized audio signal is used as a prototype frame in order to create a substitution frame for a lost audio frame. The method comprises a step of transforming the prototype frame into a frequency domain. The method further comprises a step of applying a sinusoidal model to the prototype frame to identify the frequency of a sinusoidal component of the audio signal. The method further comprises a step of calculating a phase shift θk for the sinusoidal component. The method further comprises a step of shifting a phase of all spectral coefficients in the prototype frame included in an interval Mk around a sinusoid k by θk and retaining the magnitude of those spectral coefficients. The method further comprises a step of randomizing phases of spectral coefficients that are not phase shifted. The method further comprises a step of creating the substitution frame by performing an inverse frequency transform of a frequency spectrum of the prototype frame.

    Abstract: An encoder and a method therein for Pyramid Vector Quantizer, PVQ, shape search, the PVQ taking a target vector x as input and deriving a vector y by iteratively adding unit pulses in an inner dimension search loop. The method comprises, before entering a next inner dimension search loop for unit pulse addition, determining, based on the maximum pulse amplitude, maxamp y , of a current vector y, whether more than a current bit word length is needed to represent enloop y , in a lossless manner in the upcoming inner dimension loop. The variable enloop y is related to an accumulated energy of the vector y. The performing of this method enables the encoder to keep the complexity of the search at a reasonable level. For example, it enables the encoder to apply an increased precision loop only when it may be needed, by analyzing whether the "worst case scenario" in the upcoming inner loop would require an inner loop with a higher precision than the one currently used.
