Abstract: An apparatus and system to mitigate non-genuine handovers are described. The handovers include handovers based on fake measurements and handovers to malicious cells. To mitigate these, a mitigation procedure is initiated when excessive handovers are detected. Location information obtained from the UE, estimation of PHY layer properties by the serving and/or target cell, or AI modeling of the best serving cell at the UE location is used to determine whether the handover is valid. If not, the handover is canceled and the UE is stopped from initiating new handovers for a specified time, the UE may be instructed to perform re-authentication with the network, and/or the serving cell recommends to the network authentication entity to revoke the UE authentication. To ensure that the target cell is legitimate, an AI model is used to classify the target cell as known/unknown and the result sent to the network in NAS signaling.

Abstract: Generally discussed herein are systems, devices, and methods for populating a cache in an information-centric network. A device of an ICN can include a content store including published content and attributes of the published content stored thereon, the attributes including at least two of a device from which the content originated attribute, a lineage attribute, and a service level agreement attribute, and content processing circuitry coupled to the content store, the content processing circuitry configured to manage the published content based on the attributes.

Abstract: Coordination techniques for radio resource control state management in dual-connectivity architectures are described. In one embodiment, for example, a master evolved node B (MeNB) may comprise logic, at least a portion of which is in hardware, the logic to send an inactivity notification message to indicate an expiration of an RRC_Inactivity_Timer for a dually-connected user equipment (UE), receive a state decision message in response to the inactivity notification message, and determine whether to transition the dually-connected UE to an RRC_Idle state based on the state decision message. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Abstract: Briefly, in accordance with one or more embodiments, a fixed device synchronizes with a downlink channel of a network, acquires a master information block including a last system update time; and executes cell selection without acquiring other system information if the last system update time is before the last system access time. Furthermore, the fixed device may listen only for system information block messages that it needs, and ignore other system information blocks. A bitmap may indicate which system information block messages should be listed to for fixed devices, and which may be ignored. In some embodiments, one or more system information blocks may be designated for fixed devices.

Abstract: Embodiments of an enhanced Node B (eNB) and method to provide system information (SI) updates to user equipment (UE) in sleep or idle mode with an extending paging cycle are generally described herein. In some embodiments, a paging message configured to include an optional field to indicate whether there has been a system information (SI) update since a last paging occasion for a UE in sleep or idle mode with an extending paging cycle. System information updates are transmitted by the eNB during a system information modification period that is shorter than a period the extending paging cycle. The optional field may indicate whether or not the UE is to acquire the latest SI update during the current paging occasion.

Abstract: Technology for a user equipment (UE) operable to determine a power preference indication (PPI) is described. The UE can determine the PPI as one of a low power consumption or a normal power consumption. The UE can start a PPI timer when the PII is set for the normal power consumption. The UE can encode the PII for transmission to an Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network (EUTRAN) in a UE assistance information message.

Abstract: Embodiments of an evolved Node B (eNB) and User Equipment (UE) for dynamic frequency selection are generally described herein. An eNB may include a transceiver to: receive an indication from a User Equipment (UE) indicating that the UE is capable of detecting radar, send instructions to the UE to detect radar on a channel of an unlicensed band, the instructions including a scheduling information element and a measurement information element, and receive a notification of radar on the channel of the unlicensed band from the UE. The eNB may include a processor to: determine whether the radar was previously detected by the eNB on the channel of the unlicensed band, and in response to determining that the radar was previously undetected, detect radar on the channel of the unlicensed band.

Abstract: Embodiments of wireless communication devices and method for discontinuous reception (DRX) mode in wireless communication are generally described herein. Some of these embodiments describe a wireless communication device having a module to cause the wireless communication device to enter the DRX mode in an operational state of the wireless communication device. The DRX mode may include a DRX cycle having a DRX cycle length. The DRX cycle length may have a value greater than at least four values of DRX cycle lengths supported by an enhanced node-B.
