Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet printer and its head cartridge in which reduction in the size of the printer is facilitated by enabling effective use of the space in the printer. SOLUTION: The head cartridge 120a comprises an ink jet head 120, and a plurality of ink holding containers 122c containing ink being ejected from the head wherein each ink holding container is connected with one head chip 124 having a plurality of nozzles. A plurality of head chips are arranged along the longitudinal direction while being shifted alternately, in the way, in the direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction to have an overlap 124d at the end part. A space 122e is formed by shifting the space for containing the ink holding container at the end part in the longitudinal direction based on the overlap.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head cartridge for a line type ink jet printer in which the ink ejecting section is protected at the time of nonuse while preventing dry up of ink and ink drops adhering to the ink ejecting section are removed. SOLUTION: The head cartridge 124 of an ink jet printer comprises a line head 120, and a cap 123 integrated with the head movably up to a close position where the cap touches the ink ejecting section of the head, a cleaning position slightly closer to the head than the close position, and an open position retreated over a sheet feed passage. The cap comprises a protective member 123c for enclosing the ink ejecting section of the head at the close position, and an ink ejection performance sustaining section 123d made of a porous material for absorbing ink liquid drops adhering to the ink ejecting section of the head at a part further closer to the head than the close position and being hit with ink liquid drops discarded from the ink ejecting section of the head at the open position.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high quality and long life printer head and a printer capable of eliminating lowering of a printing density and variation in printing by suppressing the clogging during a heater is working. SOLUTION: The printer head comprises a heater chip provided on a base plate, a heating means formed on the heater chip and a transferring section having irregular structures which are arranged in one or more lines along the longitudinal direction of the heater chip. Ink held on the transferring section by a capillary phenomenon is allowed to fly toward a body to be transferred by heating the ink by means of the heating means corresponding to information to be recorded, thereby transferring the information to the body to be transferred. A thin plate with a groove made of a metallic sheet having the to be an ink supplying passage provided in one face thereof is stuck to the base plate at the face of the side having the transferring section of the heater chip with a heat curable epoxy adhesive in such a manner that the face having the groove is opposite to the heater chip and then the ink supplying passage for supplying the ink to the transferring section is formed.

Then, a rotary base 134 is rotated at 180 deg. at a rotary supporting shaft 144 as a center to move an ink unit 45B to a lower part of a plate cylinder 40, and the unit 45A is retracted to one side of the cylinder 40. Other ink pan 42 and a doctor blade holder 155 of the other unit 45B are raised in parallel with a direction of arrows (m), (n) by the mechanism 138 to set the unit 45B from below the lower part of the cylinder 40. Thus, the two units 45A, 45B can be simply replaced for the one cylinder 40.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an occurrence of a skew by positioning a roll paper unit by a simple mechanism with a high degree of precision without causing a sharp rise in manufacturing cost.SOLUTION: A printer includes a roll paper tray 4 which supports a pair of roll paper holders of the roll paper unit 2000 made up of roll paper 1000 and a pair of the roll paper holders 1001 having a flange 1002, and an apparatus body 3 provided with a first reference axis 44 and a second reference axis 45. The roll paper tray can move between a drawing position and a storage position where the roll paper unit is stored in the apparatus body. The roll paper tray is provided with a biasing axis 31 that is biased to the direction to come into contact with an outer peripheral surface of a pair of the flanges by an exciter spring. When the roll paper tray is moved from the drawing position to the storage position, the first reference axis and the second reference axis come into contact with a pair of the roll paper holders, and the biasing axis is pressed by the biasing spring, causing the roll paper unit to be positioned in the direction perpendicular to the axial direction.
