Abstract:
Abstract:
A cable as may be used in a tire, including a pneumatic tire. The cable is constructed in a manner that can provide a desired stiffness to a tire as well as a certain amount of structural elongation. The cable can be provided in a manner that does not necessarily result in an increase in the overall weight of the tire as would occur by e.g., increasing the diameter of a conventional cable construction.
Abstract:
A wire cable construct including a plurality of strands each made of a plurality of wire filaments, the strands and wire filaments arranged in a 37 x 7 configuration of 37 strands of 7 wire filaments each, with the strands arranged in four layers including a first, central layer of a single strand, a second layer of six strands, a third layer of twelve strands and a fourth, outermost layer of eighteen strands. The cable may have a small diameter for use in medical device applications, and the strand and wire element configuration allows the cable to carry high axial loads, minimizes bending stress when the cable is routed around a tight turn such as a small pulley, and minimizes torsion in the cable due to axial loading.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The invention relates to an abrasion resistant product comprising a plurality of interlaced yarns wherein at least a first yarn having a tensile strength, having a value TS in N/tex, said first yarn containing a plurality of UHMWPE fibres having a titer, having a value T in den, wherein the ratio T/TS is at least 5 den.tex/N.
Abstract:
A process for producing a high strength rope comprising the step of i) providing a uniaxially oriented tape (10) comprising ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene, the tape (10) having a tensile strength of at least 0.9 GPa, and ii) simultaneously twisting and fibrillating the tape (10) into a twisted strand of fibrillated tape with a coherent network of filaments and fibrils. A rope obtainable by the process and products comprising the rope are also disclosed.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a textile cord (50) having an at least triple twist (T1, T2, T3), comprising at least N strands (20a, 20b, 20c, 20d), where N is greater than 1, which are twisted together to a final twist T3 in a final direction D2, each strand being made up of M pre-strands (10a, 10b, 10c), where M is greater than 1, which pre-strands are in turn twisted to an intermediate twist T2 (T2a, T2b, T2c, T2d) in an intermediate direction D1 which is opposite to D2, with every pre-strand consisting of a spun fibre (5) that has been twisted on itself to an initial twist T1 (T1a, T1b, T1c) in the direction D1, wherein at least half the N times M spun fibres have an initial modulus of elasticity Mi greater than 800 cN/tex. This textile cord can advantageously be used as reinforcement in vehicle pneumatic tires, especially in the belt or the carcass ply of said pneumatic tires.
