Abstract:
A load counterbalancing coiled wire spring assembly adapted to provide predetermined nonuniform bending stress induced torsional load supporting force in response to load induced longitudinal spring wire displacement.
Abstract:
A door positioning mechanism with a moveable carriage driven by a motor through a lead screw, wherein the moveable carriage is connected to open and close the door by movement of the door rectilinearly along a track through the expedient of a drive train utilizing a multiple sheave and cable connection between the door and the moveable carriage. A hand disconnect is provided to disable the positioning mechanism and allow manual movement of the door. A thermal (fire switch) dead weight control is also provided to over-ride the positioning mechanism and automatically shut the door.
Abstract:
A sliding door closer for automatically returning a sliding door to a closed position includes a gas spring having a cylinder and a rod slidingly received thereby. Pressurized gas within the cylinder urges the rod to an extended position. A block and tackle pulley system is secured to the opposing ends of the gas spring for rotatably supporting a cable extending between the sliding door and the door jamb. The gas spring rod is compressed as the door is opened. Extension of the gas spring rod causes the door to close when released. A piston secured to the gas spring rod has an orifice therein for causing the rod to extend at a controlled rate. The cylinder includes a quantity of oil to cushion the final extension of the rod to further slow the final closing of the door. The gas spring and pulley system fit compactly within the frame of the door or within a tubular housing secured to a side of the door.
Abstract:
A block and tackle window sash balance system 10 has its friction made adjustable by a friction spring 20 and a cam 30 arranged for pressing spring 20 against a radial face of a pulley 15 in a high friction position and moving the spring clear of the pulley in a low friction position. Cam 30 is preferably accessible with a screwdriver for adjusting friction after the balance is installed in a window.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a balance assembly for windows in which a gas pressurized piston and cylinder device with pulley wheels at each end acts as a balance element for the windows.
Abstract:
A drive device for a wing of a door, window or the like, comprises a drive member for driving the wing. The drive member is rotatable about a rotation axis between two positions which corresponds to two positions of the wing. A drive motor is connected to the drive member for driving the drive member from the first position to the second position. A spring device is connected to the drive member for driving the drive member from the second position to the first position. The spring device comprises a spring means which is arranged between a stop and a spring seat. The stop has a fixed position relative to the rotation axis of the drive member. The spring seat is arranged on a slidable body so as to move the spring seat relative to the stop. A flexible connecting element is attached to the drive member and to the slidable body of the spring device for allowing a displacement of the slidable body along the elongate guide member so as to prestress the spring means when the drive member is driven from the first position to the second position. The flexible connecting element is arranged adjacent to and outside of the spring means and extends from the drive member substantially parallel with respect to the longitudinal axis of the spring means, is guided over a reversing guide member of the slidable body, and from there extends in a direction opposite to the first part.
Abstract:
