    Abstract: A method of colour saturation compensation in a video signal is disclosed. The method includes the steps of: processing a luminance signal component of the video signal; determining whether the processing of the luminance signal results in a change in chrominance saturation; if the step of determining reveals that the chrominance saturation has changed, applying a chrominance compensation signal to the chrominance signals to counteract the effects of chrominance saturation, wherein said step of applying a compensation signal include the steps of: generating a compensation signal which is dependent on hue and luminance ratio (output luminance signal / input luminance signal).     Abstract: Innovative methods and systems designed for velocity control of typical voice coil motors (VCM) with particular reference to disk drive applications are described. Said methods and systems employ velocity control loops to cause said motors to function in continuous drive mode, hence reducing vibrations and noise typically associated with prior art designs using pulse width modulation. Regular calibrations of the control loops compensate for shift in motor coil resistance (Rm)(115) as a result of dependence upon coil temperature and torque. Said calibration effectively measures said motor coil resistance (Rm) (115) and adjusts the value of at least one of the resistors (R1, R2, Rs) in a bridge network such that when said bridge network is balanced, motor velocity (i.e. speed and direction) is controllable by a control signal or according to a velocity profile.     Abstract: CONTINUOUS MODE VELOCITY CONTROL OF VOICE COIL MOTOR A method of controlling the velocity of a voice coil motor (VCM), including sensing a voltage difference between the VCM and a sense resistor and driving a velocity control loop (VCL) based on the voltage difference. There is also a control loop circuit, including a current output connected to drive a voice coil motor, the voice coil motor producing a back electromagnetic field (BEMF) voltage. The circuit also includes a sense resistor connected to the BEMF output, and a BEMF resistive network comprising a first resistor and a second resistor. The circuit also includes a velocity control loop (VCL) connected to control the voltage output according to a voltage difference between (i) a junction of the sense resistor and the current output and (ii) a junction of the first resistor and the second resistor.

    Abstract: Output Architecture for LCD Panel Column Driver In one embodiment consistent with the present invention, a digital to analog converter (DAC) circuit operates over an upper range and a lower range. An upper voltage node is designated AVDD; a middle voltage node is designated HVDD; and a lower voltage node designated ground. An upper DAC stage has at least one NMOS transistors that produces an output to an upper range output node when the output is in the upper range. A lower DAC stage has at least one PMOS transistors that produces an output to a lower range output node when the output is in the lower range. A body bias control circuit couples the body of the upper NMOS transistor to a voltage source equal to HVDD-Vbe and connects the body of the lower PMOS transistor to voltage source equal to HVDD+Vbe. This abstract is not to be considered limiting, since other embodiments may deviate from the features described in this abstract.

    Abstract: Pitch detection of speech signals finds numerous applications in karaoke, voice recognition and scoring applications. While most of the existing techniques rely on time domain methods, the invention utilises frequency domain methods. There is provided a method and system for determining the pitch of speech from a speech signal; the method including the steps of: producing or obtaining the speech signal; distinguishing the speech signal into voiced, unvoiced or silence sections using speech signal energy levels; applying a Fourier Transform to the speech signal and obtaining speech signal parameters; determining peaks of the Fourier transformed speech signal; tracking the speech signal parameters of the determined peaks to select partials; and, determining the pitch from the selected partials using a two-way mismatch error calculation.

Where the input data stream is divided into zero-input signals and zero-state signals. One of the zero-input signals and a corresponding impulse response of the digital filtering system is converted to the frequency domain to determine a respective zero-input response of the digital filtering system. One of the zero-state signals is convolved with a corresponding impulse response of the digital filtering system to determine a respective zero-state response of the digital filtering system, wherein at least part of the zero-input signal precedes the zero-state signal. The zero-state response of the digital filtering system is added to the zero-input response of the digital filtering system to determine the response of the digital filtering system. Apparatus for effecting this method is also disclosed.

The device includes a reverberation controller. The reverberation controller pre-processes one or more predetermined characteristics of a first audio signal to produce a pre- processed signal and generates a plurality of delayed outputs from the pre- processed signal, each output having a predetermined delay. The reverberation controller also produces a plurality of reflection outputs from the plurality of delayed outputs and combines the plurality of reflection outputs to produce a second audio signal having a desired reverberation response.
