Abstract:
The disclosure is directed to antibodies and binding fragments thereof that specifically bind HER3. The disclosure is further directed to immunoconjugates comprising the antibodies and binding fragments thereof that specifically bind HER3. The disclosure is also directed to uses of the antibodies, binding fragments thereof and immunoconjugates for detecting HER3-expressing cells and for treating HER3-expressing cancer.
Abstract:
Recombinant, chimeric porcine influenza viruses are disclosed that include hemagglutinin segments from more than one influenza virus subtype. Also described are methods of producing the recombinant influenza viruses, immunogenic compositions comprising the recombinant influenza viruses, methods of stimulating an immune response against influenza virus, and methods of treating and preventing influenza virus infection.
Abstract:
Nucleic acid molecules encoding polypeptides having polyketide synthase activity have been identified and characterized. Expression or over-expression of the nucleic acids alters levels of cannabinoid compounds in organisms. The polypeptides may be used in vivo or in vitro to produce cannabinoid compounds.
Abstract:
Compositions and methods are provided for modulating an immune response in a vertebrate subject. Compositions and methods can comprise administering a modified host defense peptide to the vertebrate subject in an amount effective to activate the immune response in the vertebrate subject, wherein the modified host defense peptide is inverted in amino acid sequence from an amino terminus to a carboxy terminus or modified to one or more D-amino acids, or both modifications, when compared to a host defense peptide. Compositions and methods are provided which comprise administering a modified host defense peptide to the vertebrate subject in an amount effective to modify an immune response in the vertebrate subject.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides compositions comprising novel endophytes capable of promoting germination endophytes that have a symbiotic relationship with plants. The present disclosure further provides methods of improving seed vitality, biotic and abiotic stress resistance, plant health and yield under both stressed and unstressed environmental conditions, comprising inoculating a seed with the novel endophyte strains and cultivating a plant therefrom.
Abstract:
Embodiments are directed to compositions and methods for treating parasitic infections. Compounds have been identified from a library of anti-cancer drugs that serve as suitable agents for targeting trypanosomatids.
Abstract:
A process for producing a lubricant from an epoxy-triglyceride comprising treating the epoxy-triglyceride with an esterifying agent in the presence of a heterogeneous catalyst under conditions to produce the lubricant is disclosed.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to wheat plants having increased resistance to an imidazolinone herbicide. More particularly, the present invention includes wheat plants containing one or more IMI nucleic acids such as a Teal IMI cultivar. The nucleic acids are preferably located on or derived from different genomes. The present invention also includes seeds produced by these wheat plants and methods of controlling weeds in the vicinity of these wheat plants.
Abstract:
Crystalline cellulose gels useful in the stabilization of emulsions, including nanoemulsions, and for acting as cryptands or clathrates, and methods for their use and production are provided. In some embodiments, the emulsion is an oil-in-water emulsion. In some embodiments, such emulsions and/or vesicles produced in such emulsions, and/or the crystalline cellulose gel itself 15 are useful in the fields of drug delivery, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, feed and food, paints and coatings, mining, or oil and gas recovery.
Abstract:
A process for producing desired compounds from biomass, including treating a lignocellulosic waste stream in some embodiments. The waste stream is conditioned under acidic or basic conditions, and is then treated in a catalytic reaction step using a transition metal catalyst and an oxidant. The transition metal catalyst can be an iron-based nanoparticulate catalyst. In some embodiments, useful compounds such as lignin, crystalline cellulose and various platform chemicals are produced from the waste stream. In some embodiments, the waste stream is lignocellulosic agricultural or forestry waste. In some embodiments, the waste stream is manure. In some embodiments, desirable bioproducts are obtained from lignocellulosic biomasses using an iron-based nanoparticulate-catalyzed reaction conducted at alkaline pH.
