Abstract: PURPOSE: A muffler with a variable resonant chamber is provided to efficiently reduce exhaust noise within the entire range of engine operation by actively changing the volume of the resonant chamber and the sectional area of the inlet according to pressure of exhaust gas. CONSTITUTION: A muffler comprises a housing(21) formed at the side of an exhaust pipe(10); a resonant chamber(50) varying the volume in sliding front and rear walls(30,40) back and forth in the housing; a porous plate integrally formed with the front wall and composed of plural small holes(34) to transmit exhaust pressure through the exhaust pipe to the front wall; a return spring(70) applying force opposite to the porous plate to the front wall to increase the volume of the resonant chamber in lowering pressure of exhaust gas; and a neck(60) connecting the resonant chamber to the exhaust pipe, and varying the sectional area of the inlet with a throttle valve(61) according to volume of the resonant chamber.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A connecting structure for a variable muffler is provided to vary displacement and capacity according to a change in pressure of exhaust gas. CONSTITUTION: Plates(21,22) are integratedly attached to both ends of an exhaust pipe(20). A muffler(30) is formed in a tubular shape having predetermined volume, and of which connecting parts(33,34) are protruded on both sides of the muffler to receive both ends of the exhaust pipe in a predetermined section. The connecting parts are not welded to both ends of the exhaust pipe for moving of the exhaust pipe and the diameters of the connecting parts are gradually expanded to the outside. Corrugated plates(40) are interposed between both side walls of the muffler and both plates of the exhaust pipe, having a plurality of damps to prevent the exhaust gas from being leaked to the outside, and to buff moving of the exhaust pipe.

Abstract: 본 발명은 배기파이프 구조에 관한 것으로서,
종래기술로는 가변머플러를 들 수 있는데, 이러한 가변머플러는 기존의 고정된 배기계형상 및 머플러구조로는 다양한 엔진 rpm영역에서 효과적인 성능을 발휘하기가 쉽지 않았던 단점을 보완하기 위하여 밸브개폐를 통해 2가지(저속영역, 고속영역)의 서로 다른 머플러 구조를 가지도록 한 것이며, 밸브를 통해 머플러를 통과하는 배기유동의 경로를 바꾸는 방식인데 이 방식의 단점을 지적한다면 밸브의 개폐를 통해서만 구조를 변경하도록 되어있고, 실제엔진을 단순히 2가지 조건으로만 가정하여 조정되도록 되어있어 엔진의 회전 및 배기량에 민감하게 대처하지 못하는 문제점이 발생하였다.
따라서, 상기 문제점을 해결하기 위한 본 발명은 배기파이프와 머플러의 연결부분에 배기압에 따라 길이가 가변되면서 배기가스의 배출량을 조절하는 가변파이프를 형성하므로서, 엔진의 구동 rpm에 따라 배출되는 배기가스의 배기압에 능동적으로 대처하여 머플러로 배출되는 배기량을 조절함에 따라 엔진의 모든 구동 rpm에 대응하여 배기가스의 유동성을 조절할 수 있고, 구조가 단순하여 제품의 생산성 향상 및 내구성 향상의 효과를 기대할 수 있도록 한 배기파이프 구조에 관한 것이다.
