    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium excellent in output characteristics in which high density recording is possible by using a magnetic film body having specified solvent resistance for a supporting body. CONSTITUTION:This magnetic recording medium consists of a magnetic supporting body 1, nonmagnetic layer 2 and magnetic layer 3, and if necessary, back a coating layer 4 is formed on the back surface of the supporting body 1. The supporting body 1 consists of a nonmagnetic part (B) and a magnetic film body (A) containing a magnetic powder formed on the nonmagnetic part (B). As for the nonmagnetic part (B), a thermoplastic resin is preferably used and polyethylene terephthalate or the like is used. Further, various kinds of fillers are preferably added considering the surface property and travelling property. As for the magnetic film body (A), a coating material comprising a setting-type resin, magnetic powder and solvent or comprising a magnetic powder and water-soluble resin is used. The extraction rate and swelling rate of the magnetic film body (when the magnetic supporting body is dipped in a solvent used for a nonmagnetic coating material at 20 deg.C for 5min) are specified to satisfy the relation (lextraction rate¦+¦swelling rate¦)X100

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To maintain satisfactory dispersibility of magnetic powder even when the total amt. of a binder (contg. a curing agent) and a lubricant is reduced and to obtain a magnetic recording medium excellent in electromagnetic transducing characteristics and durability by adding a specified dispersant at the time of preparing a magnetic coating material. CONSTITUTION:When the top of a polyethylene terephthalate film is coated with a magnetic coating material contg. a binder and magnetic powder mixed with a solvent, ammonium salt of 12-18C monocarboxylic acid or 12-18C monocarboxylic acid and an aq. ammonia soln. or gaseous ammonia are added as a dispersant. Vinyl chloride resin having sulfonic acid groups or polyurethane having sulfonic acid groups is used as the binder. Iron-based metallic magnetic powder is effective as the magnetic powder. The solvent is, e.g. methyl ethyl ketone or toluene.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium having a high squareness ratio and high toughness and excellent in contact with a head and output characteristics by forming a metallic thin film layer on a magnetic substrate when a nonmagnetic layer and a magnetic layer are successively formed on the substrate to obtain a magnetic recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A metallic thin film layer 4 is formed on a magnetic substrate 1 and a nonmagnetic layer 2 and a magnetic layer 3 are successively formed on the layer 4. A back coating layer 5 is formed on the rear side of the substrate 1 if necessary. The layer 4 is formed by laminating a metal such as Al or Cu or a metalloid such as Si or Ge on the substrate 1 by vapor deposition, plating or other method.     Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a magnetic recording medium which excels in output charateristics even when its thickness is reduced by using a magnetic supporting body for the supporting body and setting the bending rigidity of the magnetic recording medium within a specific range in the magnetic recording medium having a thickness of not more than a specific value. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic recording medium having a thickness of not more than 10mum is provided with a magnetic supporting body 1, a non-magnetic layer 2, a magnetic layer 3 and as occasions demand, a back coat layer 4. The bending rigidity of the magnetic recording medium is set to 50 to 300mg. When the bending rigidity is less than 50mg. the touching of a head in the central part of a magnetic head makes failure, and when the bending rigidity exceeds 300mg, the touching of the head in the front part and the back part of the head makes failure. Therefore, when the bending rigidity is set within the range of 50 to 300mg, preferably 60 to 250-mg, a medium which excels in output characteristics can be obtained.
