    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reversible multicolor recording medium having clear color developing and erasing properties and a contrast and capable of repeatedly performing recording and erasure, and a recording method using the same. SOLUTION: In the reversible multicolor recording medium having such a structure that recording layers 11-13 are laminated to be formed on a support substrate 1 in the surface direction of the substrate 1, the recording layers 11-13 contain photothermal conversion materials which absorb infrared rays of different wavelength regions to generate heat, coloring compounds and developing/subtractive agents. The chemical structure related to each of the developing/tone-reducing agents is specified, and excellent color developing and erasing characteristics, contrast and fineness are realized to enhance recording sensitivity.
