Abstract:
Wires are wound and simultaneously laid directly on the core of the product to form a wound layer between the adjacent wires of which there are peripheral spaces constituting from 15 to 70 percent of the wire diameter. The partly finished twisted wire product made in this manner is subjected to compression so as to cause its plastic deformation in order to obtain the desired shape and size. The wires of the wound layer of the finished product have a contact with the core substantially along the surface thereof as a result of compression applied to the product so as to cause its plastic deformation to produce the desired shape and size.A twisted product made by applying this method has uniform mechanical properties over its whole cross section.
Abstract:
A non-rotating rope, comprising 3 or 4 strands of of clam-shaped cross section so arranged around a flexible core equidistantly from the rope center that the principal axes of the clams are on the equiangularly spaced radial lines radiating from the rope center and the sides of the clams are in contact with one another with the apex and base of each clam directed inwards and outwards respectively, is closed in a direction opposite to the direction of the lay of the strands.
Abstract:
A conveyor belt of elastomeric material, especially natural and synthetic rubber material, with thread-shaped strength members extending in the longitudinal direction of the belt and being located in parallel spaced relationship to each other while being embedded in the elastomeric material of the belt, the strength members being in the form of wires united to each other by a single twist.
Abstract:
A metallic reinforcing cord structure suitable for reinforcing elastomeric articles characterized by a high compression modulus which increases resistence to buckling and fatigue failure and by improved adherence between the core and the elastomeric article in which it is embedded is disclosed. The cord comprises a core consisting of two equal diameter brass plated steel wires and an outer layer of six equal diameter brass plated steel wires disposed about the core wires, the diameter of the outer layer wires being between about 1.23 and about 1.43 times the diameter of the core wires. The two core wires are twisted about one another and the outer wires are twisted about the core. Both the core and the outer wires are laid in the same direction. This abstract is not to be taken either as a complete exposition or as a limitation of the present invention, however, the full nature and the extent of the invention being discernible only by reference to and from the entire disclosure.
Abstract:
The present rope is torsion free mainly because it has an inner rope formed by an inner layer of strands which is surrounded by an outer layer of strands and since the inner rope is constructed of at least three flattened strands and at least three round strands which are smaller than the flattened strands to fill the spacings between adjacent flattened strands. The inner strands surround a center member of elastic material.
