    Abstract: A reinforcing block for a closure tilt latch, comprising a body fastened in a closure track fastened to a frame, said body having a top and bottom and having a locking detent extending therein said locking detent providing a vertical face extending toward said top of said body from intermediate said top and bottom, the tilt latch being compatible with the vertical face of said locking detent, wherein when said latch engages said detent said block provides a reinforcement path to the closure frame to strengthen the loading capability of said closure and to reduce the risk of the latch from disengaging said track under loading which track would be subject to distortion had the block not been utilized.

    Abstract: A bi-parting shutter system having two slidably displaceable shutters connected by a flexible belt arranged in a track and looped around two freely rotatable pulley wheels. The belt defines a first belt run connected to a first shutter by a first attachment, and a second belt run similarly connected to a second shutter by a second attachment. The second attachment includes a bracket having a generally hollow square cross section and located in the track. The first belt run freely passes through the second attachment, with movement of one shutter being transmitted to the other shutter.

    Abstract: A pocket door suspension system which permits the door to be moved, without skewing or sagging, from a closed position to an open and retracted position adjacent a supporting wall, the system having two telescoping slide assemblies mounted to the supporting wall, the door being attached by hinges to moveable members of the slide assemblies. Two cables are provided, each attached at one end to the back end of one fixed slide member and at the other end to the front end of the other fixed slide member. Each cable is slideably attached to the moveable members of the slide assemblies such that the pair of cables trace an "I" figure, the pair of cables effectively preventing the moveable members of the slide assemblies from moving out of a predetermined relationship to each other.

    Abstract: A cabinet (10) comprises a top wall (12), bottom wall (14), two identical side walls (16), each having a front edge (18), and a back wall (20), the walls (12, 14, 16, 20) defining a front opening (22). A flipper door (24) is adapted to cover the opening (22) and the front edges (18) of the side walls (16) when the flipper door (24) is in the closed position. To this end, the width of the flipper door (24) is greater than the distance between the sidewalls (16) of the cabinet (10). In addition, the flipper door (24) is suspended by a rack-and-pinion assembly (26) which includes racks (30) secured to the side walls (16) and pinion gears (36) rotatably engaging the racks (30). The pinion gears (36) are coupled together by an axle (40). The ends of the axle (40) engage lower guide channels (34) in the racks (30). Pivot links (46) are pivotally coupled to the ends of the axle (40) between the pinion gears (36) and the racks (30). The pivot links (46) are also pivotally connected to flipper door brackets (52) through stud shafts (62) mounted to the brackets (52) and pivotally connected to the pivot links (46). The stud shafts (62) ride in upper guide channels (42) in the racks (30). The flipper door brackets (52) are rigidly secured to the flipper door (24). When the flipper door (24) is moved to its forward-most position, the links (46) operate to offset and translate forwardly and upwardly the pivot axis of the flipper door (24) to enable the flipper door (24) to close over opening (22) and the front edges (18) of the side walls (16).

    Abstract: A moveable, rollaway door or window panel is provided in a structure having one moveable panel and one fixed panel. The moveable panel, when in its closed position, is substantially co-planar with the fixed panel; and when in its fully open position, it is substantially co-extensive with and on the interior side of the fixed panel. A pair of control rods, one at each side, is concealed within the sash structure of the moveable panel, and is secured at its top and bottom ends to a cam member. Each cam member has a guide member which co-operates with a guide track, and is rotatable with respect thereto. The cam members at the upper ends of the control rod are connected to each other by a tie rod or cable in such a way that rotation of one of the control rods causes an equal rotation in the same direction of rotation of the other of the control rods, thereby assuring planar movement of all four corners of the moveable panel. The structure therefore combines features of both sliding and casement window or door installations.

    Abstract: A door which is to be swung open and closed to provide access to an enclosure and slid back into the enclosure is provided with one or more hinges rotatably mounted on a shaft to the ends of which there are fixedly mounted gears which positively engage respective racks disposed adjacent the top and bottom of the enclosure and extending along the depth of the enclosure so that as each door is slid in and out of the enclosure there is no rotation of the door in its plane and, hence, no sagging and binding of the door. A portion of each hinge is confined within a guide block which is in turn rotatably connected with the shaft and slidably mounted in a channel adjacent and parallel to the rack so that only the member of the hinge attached to the door is swingable with the pivot of the hinge being rectilinearly slidable with the door along the depth of the enclosure.
