A digital broadcasting receiver and a data processing method are provided to create a new profitable model of a mobile communication provider as well as a broadcasting station, thereby increasing utility of mobile digital broadcasting. An MH(Mobile/Handheld) broadcasting signal including mobile service data and main service data is received(S200,S201). An RS(Reed-Solomon) frame is produced from the received MH broadcasting signal(S202). ESG(Electronic Service Guide) data is extracted from the produced RS frame(S203,S204). A port number corresponding to a subtitle including reference information is checked. It is controlled that the subtitle including the reference information is displayed, by using the checked port number.
Abstract:
A broadcasting data receiving device in a portable digital broadcasting system and a method are provided to shorten delay time when requesting channel conversion in a receiver of the portable digital broadcasting system, and to decrease power consumption of the receiver. An RF(Radio Frequency) receiver(702) receives a broadcasting signal. A baseband processor(704) demodulates the received broadcasting signal. An application processor(708) outputs a channel conversion signal if a broadcasting-related key input signal for channel conversion is received, and outputs demodulated broadcasting data through audio/video decoding. If the channel conversion signal is received, a time slicing controller(706a) controls so that the receiver(702) and the processor(704) receive and demodulate the received broadcasting signal irrespective of time slicing. A memory(710) stores the demodulated broadcasting data.

An apparatus and a method for receiving DMB are provided to store an erasure flag in a memory where received data are received, so that the size of a gate is reduced. An apparatus for receiving DMB includes a memory(103) and an error correction module(207). The memory(103) stores data and an erasure flag. The error correction module(207) receives data, extracts an erasure flag from the received data, and then stores the data and the erasure flag into the memory(103). The data and the erasure flag are extracted from the memory(207) so that the error of the data is corrected. The error correction module includes a data receiving module, an erasure signal extracting module that extracts the erasure flag from the data, a memory controller which controls the writing and the reading of the data and the erasure flag to and from the memory, and a correction module which corrects the error of the data by using the erasure flag.
Abstract:
A broadcasting signal demodulator is provided to compensate a carrier frequency offset in consideration of a received signal environment to improve signal receiving performance. A broadcasting signal demodulator includes a carrier frequency offset estimator(170), an error calculator(180), and an offset compensator(195). The carrier frequency offset estimator estimates one of a fractional sub-carrier frequency offset corresponding to an interval shorter than a half of a sub-carrier interval, a residual sub-carrier frequency offset of a received signal, and an offset corresponding to an integer multiple of a sub-carrier interval of the received signal from the received signal. The error calculator receives channel information and calculates at least one of the offsets output from the carrier frequency offset estimator according to the channel information. The offset compensator outputs a signal capable of compensating the frequency offset output from the error calculator.

A method and an apparatus for supporting mobility in a DVB-H(Digital Video Broadcasting-Handheld) CBMS(Convergence of Broadcasting and Mobile Service) system are provided to transmit service mapping information of each TS(Transport Stream) and IP(Internet Protocol) platform, so that a user can continuously receive a broadcasting service even when the user gets out of a cell or network to which he/she belongs to enter a new network. A method for supporting mobility comprises the following steps of: setting up mapping information for broadcasting services of each of different TSs(Transport Streams) corresponding to a broadcasting service which a terminal is currently receiving(802); and transmitting the mapping information for the preset broadcasting service to the terminal(805).

An apparatus and a method for processing the interrupt of a terminal receiving DMB are provided to quickly process an occurring external interrupt even if a sleep counter is not terminated for a duration in which a broadcast receiving chip of a digital video broadcasting-handheld(DVB-H) terminal does not process broadcasting data, thereby improving the performance of the broadcast receiving chip. A portable terminal receiving a digital video broadcasting(DMB) includes an application processor(110) and a broadcast receiving chip(120). The application processor generates an interrupt signal by processing data and multimedia. The broadcast receiving chip receives the interrupt signal generated from the application processor. The broadcast receiving chip generates a sleep interrupt signal, or an activation interrupt signal in a present operation state before a sleep interval is terminated.

A method for storing a digital broadcasting program and a digital broadcasting terminal for implementing the method are provided to automatically store only portions desired by a viewer in a stored broadcasting program and make the stored portions reproduced in series. One or more indexes related to a broadcasting program are inputted(S110). The broadcasting program is received from a digital broadcasting center(S120). Texts sequentially matched with certain portions of the broadcasting program are generated by speech recognition and video recognition of the broadcasting program(S130). Certain portions of the broadcasting program in which the indexes exist among the texts are stored with the indexes(S160). The video recognition is performed by recognition of characters included in video.

본 발명은 디지털 방송 수신기에서 동기 시간 단축을 위한 장치 및 그 방법에 관한 것이다. 특히 본 발명은 버스트 구간의 마지막 SFO 값을 저장한 후 다음 버스트 구간에서 상기 저장된 SFO 값을 이용함으로써, 다음 버스트 구간에서 동기를 다시 획득하는 과정없이 바로 추적 모드로 동작할 수 있으므로 그 만큼 동기 시간을 단축할 수 있게 된다. 그리고 동기 시간이 단축되면 오프 타임은 그대로 유지하면서 평균 소비 전력은 더욱 줄어들 뿐만 아니라 오프 타임 간격도 줄어들게 된다. 따라서 본 발명은 디지털 방송 수신기에서의 채널 변경에 따른 반응 시간을 줄일 수 있고, 이로 인해 사용자 불만이 줄일 수 있게 된다.
