    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lightweight and thin-type speaker which can be installed on the ceiling or wall while suppressing interference.SOLUTION: An electrostatic speaker unit outputs a plane wave of strong directivity in a direction of a normal of a vibration surface. Since a sound absorber has a surface area equal to or larger than that of the electrostatic speaker unit, a sound outputted from a first surface (back surface) of the electrostatic speaker unit is absorbed by the sound absorber. Even if remaining sounds which are not absorbed by the sound absorber are present, passages of such sounds are blocked by a sound insulation material, and the sounds are prevented from being reflected by any other object and interfering sonic waves outputted from a second surface (front surface) of the electrostatic speaker unit. In such a case, the sound insulation material may also be the wall or ceiling itself or any other thin sound insulation material may also be provided.
